Hi,
“That political party” is currently recruiting influencers by the way.
Was offered 1 million naira per post for 4 posts which I found really ludicrous.
Y’all are about to witness so many levels whitewashing in the coming weeks.
Do with this what you will.
There is absolutely no reason why your nursery school child should be in a school bus at 5:30am.
This is part of a failed system and terrible government.
I am from Asaba, Delta State, I grew up in Benin City, Edo State, I speak Igbo, and I understand the Edo culture intimately. I served in Enugu State, I lived in Lagos State for 6 years. I am married to a woman whose dad is Yoruba and Mom Igbo.
I have lived in Northern Nigeria for 7 years, I've been across Africa and explored multiple cultures intimately. First you think your culture is ultimate, then you experience others, and you are blown away.
It's heaven calling; you see all peoples and you imagine what God would do with our ethnic supremacy dilemma, then you realise that he intends to bring everyone together, even more so, he intends to show us that we fit perfectly together, and that our gaps are complemented by others. It's his vision; unity of all races.
I cannot affirm a 'tribe', not because I do not feel a sense of pride, but because Christianity blurs the lines, and I can love everyone and anyone because they are the image of God.
Keeping everyone (including Africans) completely ignorant about Africa and the central role it plays in the economic and natural world is a core feature of Europeanised education, not a bug.
You're not supposed to know that the DRC is the most resource-rich country in the world, with an estimated $24 trillion sitting under its soil. You're not supposed to know that the rise of "western civilisation" from the 15th century on was entirely made possible by European contact with Africa, and that the resources and labour extracted from coastal West Africa from 1492 onwards are the entire reason why both American continents exist in their current form.
You're not supposed to know that both WW1 and WW2 were essentially wars fought over the right to African colonial domination and expansion, and that even the uranium that was used in "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki came from Shinkolobwe uranium mine in eastern DRC. You're not supposed to know that the reason the country of France exists in its current form is because tens of thousands of conscripted West African soldiers fought and won against the Nazis in Europe, and the French thereafter shipped them back to West Africa and massacred them at Camp Thiaroye in Senegal to avoid paying them their due wages.
You're not supposed to know that there was nothing cold about the so-called Cold War, because the vast majority of the hot theaters it was physically fought in were on the continent of Africa. (Zimbabwe, DRC, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Angola, Eritrea, Zambia etc). You're not supposed to know that the ongoing Ukraine war and the war in the Sahel are in fact the same conflict being fought by the same 2 sides, and that the reason France is desperately pushing funding and arms to Ukraine even as it falls into internal crisis is that Ukraine is acting as its proxy army in West Africa, as it tries to regain its lost colonial territories there, especially Niger where the cheap yellowcake uranium for its famously cheap nuclear energy used to come from before the 2023 revolution.
You're definitely not supposed to know that the entire global economy and system of trade as you know it is built on ruthless extraction from Africa and ensuring that Africa does not control anything it exports. You're not supposed to know that "Italian leather" doesn't come from Italy - it comes from Kano, Nigeria. You're not supposed to know that "Swiss chocolate" does not exist because cocoa does not grow anywhere in Switzerland or Europe - it comes from Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria. You're not supposed to know that Israel and the UAE control the global diamond and gold markets even though Israel has no diamond mine and the UAE has zero gold mines, because both resources are literally being stolen from the DRC and Sudan on an industrial basis.
You're basically not supposed to understand that the entire geopolitical world as you know it, rests entirely on extraction from Africa, poverty of Africans, and your own ignorance about where everything you use comes from.
Completely deliberate 500+ year-old feature, not accidental bug.
Somebody somewhere who doesn’t have Lasis’s kind of money, leverage or influence will still be somewhere thinking he’s overdoing with this video. That’s how messed up Nigerians who are at the most vulnerable status wise are. My biggest win in recent times is significantly toning down the emotional part of me that craves a better Nigeria. The emotional stress isn’t worth it. You can’t help people that don’t want to be helped.
I remember one night when a rider was involved in an accident while I still worked at a Chowdeck. I received a call from a rider who rushed his injured colleague to the hospital around midnight. The rider needed a surgical procedure to be saved. The hospital couldn’t start it because they needed blood.
I received the first call around 6am in the morning on Sunday while I was preparing to go to church. I spoke to the doctor and he said they needed two pints of blood. I said “no problem. How much is it?” Doctor responded with they don’t have blood and we’ll need to find a place to get it.
We searched all over the island, there was no blood. No universal donor blood or the riders’ specific blood group.
I made calls to some contacts of mine who volunteer at some non-profit organizations that donate blood. They didn’t have. I kept getting many different contacts. Eventually, someone told me they had the blood in Abule Egba. We went there all the way from the island. This was already around 1pm. We got to the location and they had only one pint. We kept searching for blood and couldn’t find the second pint we needed.
Eventually we took the one pint to the hospital around 3pm. The doctor started the surgery and asked us to pray that the patient doesn’t lose too much blood. Surgery was completed and the one pint was enough, thanks to God.
I don’t think I’ve ever been so scared in my life. That day made me lose trust in our healthcare system in this country. I really pray that people don’t have health emergencies because the institutions to accommodate such shocks are nonexistent
Nigeria Healthcare System is in Shambles. You won’t understand until you become a Victim.
I studied outside the country. Came back to Nigeria to practice.
I was mentally messed up. So bad that I decided I can no longer practice Clinical Medicine in Nigeria while I map out my escape route…
Up to 50% of deaths in Emergency departments were Avoidable.
And until the government takes this serious, Nigerians will keep dying and you or your family might be the next victim…
Ife is the first Nigerian woman I have seen who sat down and defended Lindsay Clancy for killing her children.
Lindsay had more support than any woman could have, she had;
* a nanny
* her husband created a separate account and founded it with $100,000 in case she needed anything,
* her husband collected maternity leave just so he could stay with her.
* she had 5 doctors at her disposal.
* she had her husband’s family and her family as well.
* her husband started working from home so he could assist her with the children.
All these and yet Ife sat down and blame the husband for not paying enough attention to his wife.
What else could the husband do to prevent her from killing her own children?
I do not want Africa to become prosperous so we can impress the West.
I want it because prosperity changes how a child sees herself. It changes whether the world pities her, lectures her, fears her migration, or respects what she can create.
Poverty humiliates people, and wealth built honestly helps them stand upright again.
It’s about Dignity.
I appreciate the full version. She showed respect afterwards. He responded to her questions with care and respect too.
If indeed UBA has a first name policy, then it makes sense that she called him Tony, and oga TOE should do the needful.
In the end, my position will always be “wisdom is profitable to direct”. No matter the existing policy, your first interaction with someone (especially older people) should give them an opportunity to choose how they want to be addressed.
