Uzbekistan’s central bank plans to gather some of Wall Street’s top international money managers to explore potential options for investing the country’s reserves.
The central bank is ready to hold a roundtable in mid-September with representatives from firms including Goldman Sachs Group Inc., BlackRock Inc. and JPMorgan Chase & Co. to brainstorm potential investment avenues, Governor Timur Ishmetov said in an interview in Tashkent.
The central bank’s reserves fell to $64.3 billion in July from $66.3 billion at the start of the year, with gold comprising 87% of the total, according to official data. Uzbekistan made net gold purchases of 41 metric tons in the first half of the year, making it the world’s second-largest buyer of the precious metal in that period, according to the World Gold Council.

You’re giving me a reason to oppose an Iranian bomb @Callous_Boomer
You haven’t yet given me a reason to believe this war was the best way to prevent one.
How are we closer to preventing Iran from having a bomb now than 6 months ago?
We’re not.
Try another reason.

BREAKING: Iran's IRGC has confirmed that Tehran will impose fees on ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with Iran and Oman agreeing on their respective shares of the waterway and its revenues, per Reuters and Iranian outlets.
IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebbi said the agreement covers each country's share of Hormuz and its revenues, while warning that the Strait will remain closed unless the U.S. accepts Iran's conditions and returns to the agreement.
Under the emerging framework, Iran's toll system would generate fees from navigation, environmental services, fuel, insurance and maritime safety, payable in Iranian rials or another currency (Yuan) designated by Tehran.
**Tehran is turning control of Hormuz into a revenue system — and Washington doesn't get to decide when the tolls disappear.**
WTI: price action still undecided.
The price tagged the support line. Can it hold it?
Neither bulls nor bears seem in control of the narrative, which reflects what I've been reading on X, where a lot of people are hedging their bets, switching their views, etc.
I'm (very) overweight the whole chain from Atlantic producers, LNG and chems.
This trade is either resolving in late Q3 or in Q4, whether it goes my way or not, time will tell.
fwiw I would prefer for crude to take the green path, and I'm once again getting insomnia from the situation, which usually means something out of my control either good or bad for the trade is happening within days or weeks.
two PADD regions over 100% refinery utilization in the last week- PADD 2 (Midwest) and PADD 4 (Rockies) overall with another very strong showing across the board.
Another 6.1k September 2026 silver futures contracts rolled or cleared. So far silver is holding up very nicely despite active clearance of silver futures over the past few days. Another 2-3 choppy trading session remaining before rollover to December 2026..
Bonds are the safe half of a portfolio. They fell.
The Federal Reserve has cut 175 basis points since September 2024. The 10-year Treasury yield went the other way, and US Treasuries sold off with stocks.
Gold has no issuer.
The Status Quo of Gold - Conclusion is out.
It took around two hundred years for US government debt to reach one trillion dollars. By contrast, in less than half a year a trillion was added to bring the debt total to the 40 trillion dollars it reached last week. According to the Peterson Foundation, US government debt is on a path to reach 50 trillion dollars within the next six years.
Despite promising to reduce government spending in all three of his presidential campaigns, President Trump, with the assistance of congressional Republicans and Democrats, has continued to grow the government debt.
IRAN, RUSSIA ADVANCE MAJOR GAS PROJECT
Iran and Russia held constructive talks with Gazprom on implementing their strategic gas cooperation agreement.
The project would deliver Russian natural gas to Iran through Azerbaijan, with supplies received at Astara.
Iran says the initiative could strengthen energy ties with Moscow and support its ambition to become a regional energy hub.
