🚨 ALERT: Fake pictures and videos from the 2022 Tigray War are being recycled and falsely presented as current footage to make it appear that the gallant Eritrean Defense Forces (EDF) are enter Tigray Don’t fall for recycled propaganda. #ethiopia#tigray#Eritrea
#Eritrea was never a part of the #Ethiopian nation, and any narrative that treats Eritrea as a simple territory seceded from #Ethiopia misrepresents its distinct history formation as an Italian colony and nation building processes, its forced federation and subsequent military occupation, and the legitimate political and protracted armed struggle of its people to restore its full #independence……
This is almost a perfect demonstration of how narratives are manufactured.
Reuters frames Eritrea as “shunned,” “secretive,” and suddenly more strategically important because of the Iran war. I challenged that framing and the history it leaves out.
Now Cameron Hudson cites the same Reuters reporting and adds another unsupported layer: Washington supposedly lifted sanctions hoping to “buy” Eritrean neutrality—and is now discovering yet another “miscalculation.”
Where is the evidence?
Massad Boulos was just in El-Alamein engaging regional leaders while Egypt, Eritrea, Sudan and Somalia were coordinating around Sudan, the Red Sea and regional security. Washington could be recalibrating its Horn policy far more broadly. We don't yet know.
But watch the process:
Reuters supplies the frame → the “expert” supplies the assumption → repetition turns the assumption into conventional wisdom.
That is how a narrative acquires authority without anyone stopping to ask where the evidence ends.
Expertise is not the ability to make speculation sound authoritative.
If you weren't at the table, don't pretend you know what was on the menu.

The Potemkin Party regime has been incessantly beating the drums of war and openly stating - from the Prime Minister down to its senior military and political officials - that it will launch a war of aggression against Eritrea to acquire what it calls "sovereign access to the sea" and "project maritime power" and presence in the southern coastal areas of Eritrea.
In recent weeks, it has tried to re-package this war agenda in terms of "self-defense" by fabricating various allegations against Eritrea.
In the wake of the upsurge of fighting in the northern part of Ethiopia, one of their senior Generals stated, in an interview with a local media outlet on 27 September last month: "... When we launch the offensive, we will not stop in Tigray.. Our main objective it to install our flag in the Red Sea".
The General also stated, on another occasion: "Mekelle is a mere stop-over, our ultimate destination is Assab".
So let us connect the dots. The writing on wall has remained crystal clear for more than three years now.
The PP's overarching objective is to create a fallacious narrative of "self-defense" to rationalize and camouflage its war of aggression.
This is the holistic picture of reckless and flagrant violation of international law which cannot be blurred through deceptive narratives.
Abiy Ahmed effectively declared war on #Eritrea since October 2023 and has been preparing for war for the past three years. He has provoked Eritrea, going so far as to claim that Eritrea, as a nation-state, does not exist.
Anyone who has been following developments in Ethiopia has been predicting that he would eventually start a war with Eritrea, particularly after the sham election he organised. But his first priority was to reassert control over #Tigray, after the people of Tigray refused to take up arms against Eritrea. Abiy also has unfinished business with Tigray and has continued to seek to subjugate its people.
He has worked hard to provoke a war between Eritrea and Tigray, deliberately pulling out Federal Forces from all the border areas and attempting to antagonise the two sides into fighting each other. But he failed miserably, as the wise people of Eritrea and Tigray chose peaceful coexistence instead. This has angered Abiy, who has since been working relentlessly to divide and weaken Tigrayan people by every means at his disposal.
Over the past two weeks, he has moved towards war, first marching towards Tigray and then, ultimately, Eritrea. But because he cannot launch a war against Eritrea without having to answer to the international community, he has been concocting a “self-defence” narrative to justify an invasion of Eritrea.
Last week, he appeared to try to use Al Jazeera and Awol Arba to implicate Eritrea, with reports claiming that Eritrean troops had moved deep into Afar. But the story failed to gain significant traction in the international media.
Today, the job was given to @dwnews, which reported alleged sightings of Eritrean troops inside Tigray. There was no confirmation from the Tigray authorities, nor was there any reported fighting with the ENDF—despite claims that Abiy has already occupied the whole Tigray and that his army are supposedly dancing in the streets.
In my opinion, Eritrea has shown extraordinary restraint despite the colossal daily provocations and repeated declarations of war from Abiy and his PP followers. It would be the ultimate dereliction of duty for Eritrea to simply sit idle while the PP’s army marches towards Eritrean territory with military equipment supplied by the UAE, apparently seeking to capture Eritrean territory.
And for the record, Abiy is risking everything—including the possible disintegration of #Ethiopia—to start a war with Eritrea for two reasons. First, to distract the #Ethiopian population from the utter failure of his leadership; and second, because he is acting as an agent of the UAE, which has ambitions to control as many ports as possible along the strategically vital waterways of the Red Sea.
@BBCAfrica
Be careful of misinformation. There is no evidence that Eritrean forces invaded Ethiopia in 2026. Neither the United Nations nor the U.S. State Department has said that Eritrean forces entered Ethiopia with tanks.
No satellite imagery has proven an Eritrean military incursion into Ethiopia from the Ethiopian-Eritrean border.
Can you imagine a US diplomat (@TiborPNagyJr ) obsessing over an #African leader this much? His unhealthy hatred of President Isaias is bordering on mental hysteria. He has been behaving in a manner that is about as far removed from diplomatic standards and the code of conduct as one could imagine.
President Isaias Afwerki and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held talks in New Alamein on strengthening bilateral ties, regional and international developments, and matters of mutual interest.
The two leaders reaffirmed the importance of sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference, while expressing readiness to deepen economic and strategic cooperation.
President Afwerki will also participate tomorrow in a summit on collective security, stability and partnership.
Eritrea's firm position that any and all bilateral/multilateral cooperation and partnership agreements must be based on mutual respect, symmetry and the full and unencumbered political independence of the parties concerned is a matter of public record.
This Potemkin Party mouthpiece attributes the signature trademark of subservience and surrogate role of its own government to Eritrea.
Unfortunately, duplicity has become second nature to the Potemkin Party!
