Gen X book nerd, sci-fi/fantasy geek, gamer, retired AMV editor, on again off again writer ( SyfySiren on AO3) just never know what I may come up with next...
sepideh moafi confirms that dr. baran al-hashimi is running the day shift with double coverage along with dr. jack abbot (shawn hatosy) and dr. parker ellis (ayesha harris)
i went from fanfiction. net straight to ao3. i never had a wattpad phase and it feels like the equivalent of a baby skipping the crawling phase and immediately learning how to walk
if you're sitting on a fanfic idea because you think it's "too weird" or "too niche" I need you to understand something: the internet is VAST and FULL of people with your exact brand of weird. that crackship that makes sense only to you? there are at least 50 people who will read it and go "oh my god FINALLY." but even if there were ZERO? you still deserve to write the thing that makes your brain light up.
I will never understand how ppl can hate doing research for their fics. there's nothing that beats the thrill of gaining knowledge and including it in your fics, nothing that beats the joy of learning more about this world and teaching others through your writing 💕
honestly one of my favorite things about fanfic is when you can see the canon influences come out in really subtle ways. like a canon line thats mentioned once as a throwaway is suddenly the entire premise for a fic or it influences the characterization or something. its just so cool to see how people weave their ideas around a source material, especially if its not a detail i'd thought about before
yeah sex is good but have you ever been stumped over a plot hole in ur fic only to receive a divine revelation from the heavens above that not only fixes it but unlocks an entirely new subplot possibility
That ‘comment on your a03 work’ email hits like a line of cocaine every time. unmatched dopamine increase. shoutout to everyone who leaves a comment on fics. you deserve the world
I love it when fan fiction writers are like:
“ah shit, this was meant to be one part but I started writing it and now it has to be three”.
Like the fanfic is happening to them and not being created by them.
NON-FICS writers will never understand the mental illness of writing an entire conversation in your head while doing dishes and then forgetting every word the second you open a blank doc
