@lu_sichu I've read Old Man's War, it didn't deliver on it's promises, characters were bland, paybacks not earned. Second worst book I've read in the last 12 months.
Megatexture has nothing to do with compression, it wouldn't have solved lightmap size. Eternal got rid of them and didn't get explosion in game size, even though texture fidelity increased. Lightmaps became too big because both fidelity and level sizes increased in TDA, also file size wasn't the only reason they were dropped.
@gobo_dev@VideoCardz 110 gigs is for already compressed data. Studio that does their own SOTA engine isn't lazy by definition, your criticism is lazy tho.
