@levparnas Hi Lev, you really do need independent electoral commisions like other nations have. Once there are non-partisan people setting electoral maps, gerrymandering will disappear.
@BinManIan We haven't heard much about the Sophie Torney & Jess Wilson matchup in Kew.
Who would lead the Liberals if Jess loses? Would they do a deal with One Nation?
@jdcarX Well, Victoria has AA credit rating, 7% of state income on interest payments (all states ave = 5%), 31k business starts a month, third highest number of police proceedings, criminal offences down 2.1% pa, major event capital of Oz, top 3 global city.
Lots of good to focus on.
@BinManIan Also, don't forget that those "non front line staff" are important - cybersecurity, compliance officers, etc.
Removing such "hidden" staff will only lead to bigger problems down the road
@Disgruntlecop@Peter_Fitz Comparing national electricity markets is a fraught exercise. Different taxes, regulations, mix of generation sources, and so on.
Generally speaking the wholesale price of electricity goes down with more renewables (don't have to pay for the fuel source)

@Disgruntlecop@Peter_Fitz Re: CIS and Gencost
There seems to be a bit of debate between the experts at CSIRO & AEMO and a single author, Aidan Morrison (I think) at CIS.
My inclination is to go with the multitude of cross-disciplinary experts rather than a lone voice in this quite complex policy area
@Disgruntlecop@Peter_Fitz WRT Transmission
Australia's population is growing - we need new transmission lines.
New transmission lines also needed because of the distributed nature of renewables. From the GenCost report: solar + batteries + new lines = cheaper over the long term.
