At just 3 years old, Chase has already experienced more hardship than any dog should ever have to endure. When he arrived into our care through the stray system, he was in a heart-breaking condition. His skin was painfully inflamed, sore, and clearly causing him discomfort. It was evident that this lovely boy had not received the care and attention he deserved.
Since arriving with us, Chase has been receiving veterinary treatment and plenty of TLC. With regular medicated baths, a consistent routine, and lots of love, his skin is already beginning to heal and he’s making fantastic progress every day. Despite everything he’s been through, Chase hasn’t lost his faith in people. He is an incredibly affectionate, gentle boy who simply wants to be loved. He greets everyone with a wagging tail and a kind heart, always eager to make friends and be part of the action.
Chase has been friendly with the dogs he has met so far and could happily live with another canine companion. Equally, he would thrive as the only dog in the home where he can enjoy being the centre of attention and soak up all the love for himself. He would be best suited to a home with older children who can understand and respect his boundaries while he continues to grow in confidence. Chase already knows his basic commands and is highly food motivated, making him a pleasure to work with and continue training.
All Chase is asking for is what every dog deserves — a safe home, a comfy bed, and a family who will love him for the rest of his life. After such a difficult start, we’d love nothing more than to see this special boy finally get the happy ending he’s waited so patiently for.
All 8 Below dogs are neutered (if of an appropriate age) microchipped, up to date with parasite treatment, have lifetime support and backup and 5 weeks free insurance plus a lovely 8B collar and lead.

Sasha has been with us much longer than we ever hoped, and at 9 years old, she deserves to be spending her golden years curled up in a loving home—not waiting in a kennel for someone to choose her.
This lovely girl still has so much life, love and adventure left to give. Despite being a senior, Sasha is full of energy and enthusiasm. As a typical Lakeland x Patterdale Terrier, she absolutely loves getting out and about, exploring the world with her nose and taking in all the exciting scents on her walks. She may be 9 years old, but don't tell Sasha that—she's still ready for plenty of adventures!

Sasha, for adoption, posted Tues 9 June 2026.
This is Callum Peacock. He battered his girlfriend with a golf club, threw bleach and paint at her, and burned a memorial shirt of her deceased grandmother but has avoided an immediate prison sentence.
The 19-year-old defendant, from St Helens, subjected his partner to a cruel three-hour ordeal inside their home.
Police officers arrived at the flat to find the victim covered in white paint and curled up in a ball on the bathroom floor.
She was audibly sobbing and shrieking through a hole in the door, which was still smouldering and smoking.
During the assault, the teenager hit her with a broom handle and a golf club before putting her in a chokehold from behind.
When she tried to hide in the bathroom, he smashed the door with the golf club and used an aerosol and a lighter to set fire to it.
He then threw dumbbells and a bottle of bleach at her, causing the liquid to splash onto her body.
In what was described in court as an extremely selfish act, he took hold of a memorial t-shirt featuring a photograph of her deceased grandmother.
He set fire to the garment right in front of her while telling her that her nan would rot in hell.
The attack came just two days after another incident where he struck his girlfriend with a hammer following an argument.
Following his arrest, he openly threatened his victim in front of police officers, stating that he was going to smash her face in when he got out.
But he has now walked free from court after a judge handed him an 18-month imprisonment suspended for 18 months.
The court heard he had already spent nearly five months in custody on remand, which the judge noted was the equivalent of a nine-month sentence for a teenager with no previous convictions.
He was also given a five-year restraining order and a rehabilitation activity requirement of up to 20 days.
Another kick in the teeth, metaphorically speaking to the brave young woman who endured his cowardly attacks.
The justice in this country cares more about the accused than the victims.
Denmark's Bold Stand: When Animal Welfare Meets Religious Tradition 🇩🇰
In 2014, Denmark drew a line in the sand. Every animal entering a slaughterhouse must be stunned before slaughter. No exceptions. No religious exemptions. The reason? To minimize suffering in an animal's final moments. 💔
This meant the end of unstunned kosher and halal slaughter practices that had previously been permitted. Animal welfare advocates cheered. The government was clear: protecting creatures from extreme pain takes priority. 🛡️
But the response wasn't unanimous. Jewish and Muslim communities pushed back hard, arguing that Denmark was trampling on their religious freedoms and centuries-old traditions. Some observers agreed, saying governments should protect both animal welfare AND religious rights. ⚖️
The law's supporters had a counterargument though: stunning animals doesn't ban religious meat production entirely. It simply adds one step—a humane one—before the traditional process continues. Today, halal meat is still produced in Denmark when this requirement is met. Kosher meat, however, is largely imported from elsewhere. 📍
Denmark isn't alone. Other European nations have adopted similar standards, turning this into a defining debate of our era: tradition versus compassion, rights versus welfare.
So we ask you: When deeply held beliefs clash with animal suffering, where should society draw the line?
Do you agree with Denmark's choice?
After more than 100 years, beach donkey rides in parts of Wales are officially coming to an end.
For generations, donkey rides were seen as a classic part of seaside holidays. Families grew up with them, children waited in line for them – it became a tradition many people never questioned.
But over time, that started to change. More people began asking what these long days on crowded beaches were actually like for the donkeys themselves.
Concerns about heat, exhaustion, physical strain, and stressful working conditions slowly pushed the debate into the spotlight.
One of the biggest changes happened at Coney Beach in Porthcawl, where donkey rides that had existed for decades will no longer continue after new restrictions involving animals on the beach were introduced.
For some, it feels sad seeing such an old tradition disappear. But others believe traditions should evolve when animal welfare is involved.
Because memories and entertainment should never come at the cost of an animal spending its life carrying people in the heat.
And maybe this is part of a bigger shift in how society now chooses to treat animals – with more compassion than before.

Brian May didn't just donate money to animal welfare. He personally purchased British farmland and forests with his own money ~ and converted them into permanent wildlife sanctuaries. He resigned from the RSPCA for not doing enough. He refuses to play Glastonbury over badgers. The Save Me Trust is not a side project. It is Brian May's second career.
Most rock stars put their name on a charity.
Brian May buys farmland for his.
The Save Me Trust was founded in 2009 by Brian May and conservationist Anne Brummer — originally to campaign against the possible repeal of the Hunting Act in the UK.
It has never stopped growing since.
Today Save Me Trust campaigns against fox hunting, the badger cull, factory farming, live export, trophy hunting, driven grouse shooting, the use of snares, and the captivity of orcas and other cetaceans.
But what most people don't know — is what Brian May has funded personally.
The Save Me Trust manages private land ~ purchased and protected specifically for this purpose by Brian May himself. Land that was previously wilderness-deprived commercial forest or farmland. Enhanced. Restored. Converted into wildflower meadows. Protected permanently.
The Trust operates alongside Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue ~ which rehabilitates injured British wildlife and releases them back into the wild through secure soft-release sites that Brian May's funding helps maintain.
In 2023 ~ Proud Galleries presented a £5,000 cheque to Save Me Trust ~ generated from ticket sales and book signings at Brian May's Stereoscopy Is Good For You exhibition in London. Every event Brian May does ~ feeds back into the animals.
He resigned from the RSPCA as Vice President in 2024 ~ publicly ~ because he felt even they weren't doing enough.
He refuses to perform at Glastonbury because its co-founder supports badger culling.
He has addressed Parliament directly. Led protests through London. Fronted BBC documentaries. Funded research. Bought countryside.
A man who once played to 250,000 people in Brazil —
Spends significant portions of his personal fortune buying British farmland.
To give Hedgehogs somewhere safe to sleep.
Thank you for caring for the animals @DrBrianMay 🙏.
He stayed in that Dollar Tree parking lot all day.
Not because he wanted to.
Because he still thought his person was coming back.
That is the part that hurts the most in Samson’s story.
A volunteer named Summer stopped in rural Alabama just to buy milk, and instead found a dog sitting alone in the lot, confused and watching every car like it might be the one. Employees told her he had been dumped there that morning and had been waiting ever since.
She tried to help him.
But Samson was too nervous, too heartbroken, and too unsure to trust anyone yet.
Still, she could not stop thinking about him.
So the next morning, she went back.
He was no longer in the parking lot, but about 100 yards down the road, Summer found him again at the town’s only gas station. This time, with patience and a trail of hot dogs, she finally got close enough to save him.
And that was the beginning of everything changing.
Samson turned out to be underweight and flea-covered, but otherwise in decent shape. He spent about two and a half weeks in foster care, where he slowly remembered how to feel safe. He went on hikes, rode in the car, slept beside his foster family, and let his goofy, affectionate personality come back.
Then he traveled to Shultz’s Guest House in Massachusetts.
Five days later, he had a home.
A dog who once waited in a parking lot for the wrong people now gets to wake up every day with the right family.
Sometimes that is what rescue really is.
Not just saving a dog’s life.
But teaching him that being left behind is not the end of his story. - Dog Nation
A tired-looking dog wanders into a guy's yard. The man examined the dog's collar, feels his well-fed belly and knows the dog has a home. The dog follows him into the house, gets comfortable on the couch and falls asleep...
The man thinks its rather odd, but lets him sleep.
After about an hour the dog wakes up, walks to the door and the guy lets him out.
The dog wags his tail and leaves.
The next day the dog comes back and scratches at the door.
The guy opens the door, the dog comes in, goes down the hall, jumps on the couch, gets comfortable and falls asleep again.
The man lets him sleep.
After about an hour the dog wakes up, walks to the door and the guy lets him out.
The dog wags his tail and leaves.
This goes on for days.
The guy grows really curious, so he pins a note on the dog's collar:
"Your dog has been taking a nap at my house every day."
The next day the dog arrives with another note pinned to his collar:
"He lives in a home with four children... He's trying to catch up on his sleep.
Can I come with him tomorrow?'

CEDAR 🌲💙 - we know this is a HUGE ask but he really needs foster or forever!
🐾 2yrs old
🐾 Male mixed breed
🐾 Needs another reasonable size dog, ideally female, to give confidence
🐾 Needs a rural home - no cities or towns!
🐾 Needs a home with a reasonable garden
🐾 Needs someone who has the time, patience and is prepared to really work with him and take on a massive challenge
Cedar was part of the group we brought down from the North of England who were kept in appalling living conditions in a barn with very little handling.
He’s taken a long time to begin to come round and we feel the kennel environment is not suiting him. We KNOW this is a MASSIVE ASK and that he is going to be extremely hard work but we really do hope there’s someone out there who is the right fit and can give him a chance 🤞

Cedar, desperate for a foster or forever home, posted 11 June 2026.
When Barney died, it broke all of us. And then we met this fella @DT_Merseyside and life made sense again. There are hundreds of dogs just like Ernie who need a home. It’s the best thing we did. If this message gets just 1 dog a home, it was worth it. ❤️🐶

Please retweet, Urgent Foster Appeal 🚨
We are urgently seeking a foster home for 3-year-old Nova (white female) and 2.5-year-old Takotna (grey and white male) #UK BONDED PAIR 💔💔💔
As of last week the owner moved out of their rented accommodation and left the dogs behind with a visitor feeding and watering them.
They are currently living in poor conditions outside, living and sleeping in their own feaces.
They are in need of a placement where they will give them time to settle down and will be able to help rehabilitate them back into a home environment.
We would prefer them to go together, however they can be separated if needed.
Nova and Takotna are people friendly, very excitable and will jump up. They are not cat or child tested, not tested in the home or with other dogs.
If you have time and space to help these beautiful dogs please get in touch
