I keep hearing some people claim @robotaxi cannot drive in heavy rain ... well, here is a video I took of it doing just that and the rain was coming down in sheets ... listen to the rain hitting the car!

Oh, after I finished my Robotaxi rides for the day, I then got into my @Tesla_AI FSD equipped 2025 Model 3 & it drove me about 80 miles back to San Antonio in this kind of rain ... zero disconnects or interventions the entire way home.

I think it does pretty well!

Tesla Robotaxi Launch: First Impressions

Tesla launched Robotaxi in Austin today, reportedly using 35 production Model Ys.

I’ve been following @herbertong’s broadcast with @CernBasher on-site and @TeslaBoomerMama handling Q&A.

Here are my thoughts:

Seamless Execution
It’s almost boring— high praise for a complex system. Countless moving parts align for a polished, “as expected” experience.

Game-Changer
Robotaxi will redefine transportation as a service. Tesla’s scaling potential is unmatched, and few are prepared for what’s coming.

Competition Crushed
Uber and Lyft will soon feel like flip phones in an iPhone era. Waymo can’t scale like this. Game over.

Dedicated App
Robotaxi’s standalone app is a smart move. Existing Tesla users log in with their profiles intact— payment, preferences, done. New users will create a Tesla account. Clean and intuitive.

Beyond FSD
This isn’t just self-driving (FSD). Robotaxi layers a sophisticated service on top of FSD— coordinating stops, waits, and app integration. Lots of complexity here, simplified.

Smart Soft Launch
Today’s trial, limited to a select few, is brilliant. Critics calling it “not a real launch” miss the point. Smart companies test cautiously. In months, no one will recall the gradual rollout— this is the true start of a mega-service, not a marketing stunt.

@aelluswamy, you and your the team nailed it. Months of preparation paid off, and this is just the beginning. An engineering triumph. As someone who’s tackled big engineering projects, I’m blown away.

Congrats to the Tesla team— Robotaxi’s scale-out will be epic.
