Incredibly sad #Pilotwhale mass stranding on the Isle of Lewis. Experts from @Strandings@BDMLR and others are on site to gain insight on why this happened.
By collating distribution data, the #JCDP can help us understand the wider impacts of events like this on populations.
Professor Kevin Anderson is addressing all of us in very clear words:
»We are heading towards 3 to 4°C of warming across this century, an absolute climate catastrophe for all species incl our own. And all we are doing so far is giving rhetoric and optimism and greenwash.«

Surf waves coincide w/ biologically diverse marine&coastal ecosystems. Through the Surf Conservation Partnership, @ConservationOrg & @SavetheWaves work to mobilize the global surf community as advocates for protecting these important ecosystems. #NatureisSpeaking#WorldSurfingDay
Flashfloods and landslides on Monday, wildfires on Wednesday in #Lochaber.
The impacts of #climatechange are real and are happening now folks. We need our #government to step-up. I don't want to accept this as our new normal.

⚠️ We are currently attending a forest fire at the Camisky Woods in the Torlundy area of Fort William.
It is recommended that anyone who lives or is travelling through the affected area should keep their windows and doors closed to prevent smoke inhalation.
Well, at least we know where it was exactly on Ben Nevis that lightning struck yesterday, as shown in the @BBCWthrWatchers photo. A video from mountain guide Rich Pyne from Nevis summit at lunchtime. Extraordinary.

Attitudes have to change. We can’t let folk off with calling An Lochan Uaine ‘the green loch’. That’s not it’s name, and ur contributing to cultural erasure, whether u think u are or not. There’s no excuse, particularly for those who proclaim to be experts.
The recent low tides at Camas a' Chòis have revealed some incredible life.
The definite highlight was a stranded lesser spotted catshark (Scyliorhinus canicula). He was unscathed and returned to the water- what a beautiful wee #shark!

The @CRRU are looking for donations to run a minke whale research project in the Moray Firth, as part of the #GreenMatchFund.
#CRRU have been a pivotal & important part of my life since I was 15 as I convinced school H&S to accept a week with the charity as work experience. 1/
Since then I have worked for them as a Research Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator on and off over the years, always learning incredible things about Scottish cetaceans and meeting amazing people along the way. 2/
