Tfkellogg

Lifelong collector of sf, fantasy, horror and crime fiction. Lucky enough to be at the 1st WFC and World Horror cons. Always in need of more bookcases.

Although it is not as well known as Marc Scott Zicree’s Twilight Zone Companion, David J. Schow’s The Outer Limits official companion and his Outer Limits At 60 are the go to sources for info on the series.

[Stefan Dziemianowicz @StefanDz11]

The Outer Limits was exemplary: High-concept science fiction at a time when, unfortunately, television couldn't adjust to it. The 49 episodes of the original series are still some of the best-scripted of their era.

@StefanDz11 Love the “printed in hell” on the back cover.

[Tfkellogg @tfkellogg]

@memizon This was true of book collecting in all genes pre internet. I miss those days, even though it’s much easier to find things. I vacillate as to which I think was better. Like you I still have some of those old catalogs. I amuse myself by comparing prices from those old days.

[Dev Latimer @DevinRN88]

Buying books won't fix my problems but neither will not buying books.

@PaterDagon @Weird_Friction @Papijoe62 March 1981 issue was his 1st appearance in Nyctalops.

[Tfkellogg @tfkellogg]

Harry Morris Jr legendary fanzine Nyctalops provided Ligotti career the initial impetus. Morris published his first collection, Songs of a Dead Dreamer.

@MattPayne1973 He took a lot of great photos at the 1st WFC and I believe was also involved in make the recordings of some of the panels at the convention. Here is a link to the recordings. https://t.co/qRR8ROQ12e the photos are also online. I was lucky enough to be able to be there live.

Literally the end of an era. I can certainly understand after all the years of hard work neded a respite. Will miss not seeing weekly updates in my email and the thrill of getting packages from Subterranean Press. Very depressing.

[Richard Kadrey @Richard_Kadrey]

This breaks my heart. Subterranean Press has put out great books in beautiful packaging since it started. The closure is a big blow to the whole SFF and horror world.

@silverlock Here is a shot of mine.

[Tfkellogg @tfkellogg]

@HorrorPaperback I don’t think Carroll’s shorter works get enough acclaim. Friend’s Best Man and Mr. Fiddlehead are outstanding examples of his shorter works.

[Tfkellogg @tfkellogg]

@toomuchhorror Really sad news. Had the pleasure of meeting him and having him sign books many years ago at a WFC. 1987 maybe. From that particular con, not a lot of the old guard left. Straub, Wagner, Grant, Etchison, Ketchum and others all gone.

[Tfkellogg @tfkellogg]

@StefanDz11 @joelansdale @RothSchilling My favorite genre is the Lansdale genre.

@_DavidMorrell As great a writer as Dan was, he was a better friend. Didn’t know him well, but will never forget spending an afternoon with him and Ed Bryant consoling our friend Doug Lewis when Doug’s wife Tomi died. We ate Chinese food and reminisced about better days. RIP Dan.

I have been following sports for over 60 years and no one was better with the media than this big stiff. The man called his own press conference to announce and celebrate his being fired by the Nuggets. He and Big Jane popped open a bottle of champagne and celebrated.

@MuchAdoAboutNil @Vatel1675 Isn’t that a great new edition! The dust jacket, the boards made to look like blood splattered bathroom tile and the great endpapers. I have many different editions of Psycho, some are signed by Bloch, but this edition is a most welcome addition to the collection.

[Tfkellogg @tfkellogg]

Yesterday’s book mail. Being a collector/fan of Bloch’s since I was 12, 58 years ago, I ripped into this last night. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable about Bloch but there are nuggets of info in this I was unaware of. A must have for Bloch fans.

[Tfkellogg @tfkellogg]

Terrible covers for what were pretty good collections.

[Stefan Dziemianowicz @StefanDz11]

@PulpLibrarian Didn’t get much better with devils OR demons.

[Tfkellogg @tfkellogg]

@Noirchick1 Moving to the blue place, but wanted to let you know I’ve really enjoyed your posts over the years. Thanks.n
