You want your athlete bigger, faster, stronger, and less injury-prone? GREAT. Let’s review training demands, nutrition, labs, recovery, sleep, and build a real plan.
“Yeah… we don’t have time for that.”
But you do have time for🤷♀️
-6 tournaments in 8 weeks
-Extra private lessons
-More showcases
Here’s the truth...You’re not overtraining your athlete… you’re under-recovering them.
🚫No fuel = no performance
🚫No recovery = higher injury risk
🚫No plan = wasted potential
Nutrition and recovery aren’t optional they’re the foundation. If you’re not investing in those, you’re not actually investing in your athlete.
🚨Student athletes should:
-Play multiple sports
-Avoid energy drinks
-Drink 80-100 oz H20
-Avoid sport specialization
-Consume 3–4 balanced meals daily
-Eat two breakfasts on game day
-Sleep 8–11 hours and prioritize recovery
-Strength train under guidance of a CSCS
-Work with a sports dietitian for smart supplementation
-Avoid playing too many tournaments and showcases
This should not be controversial. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Went to a HS game yesterday. Had a D1 coach come meet me there to watch a kid.
During the game, the team’s catcher would sprint to his position every inning.
He’s an underclassman, the D1 coach wasn’t there for him, he is now on that coaches radar.
Some things preached at every level -
▪️sprint to your spot between innings
▪️show off your arm in between innings
▪️serious throws in the INF/OF and as a catcher
You can be 0-3 and still make an impression
After practice ended, everyone left.
Except one player.
He stayed behind shooting.
No crowd.
No applause.
Just work.
Most people never see those moments.
Coaches do.
That’s where improvement really happens.
Athletes: Learn how to control your emotions & body language.
It's great to show passion but not at the cost of hurting your team.
When I see a member of opposing team have weak body language or temper tantrum..I smile because it means "we got em!" & we're going to win.
Competitive character is not “wanting to win.”
Everybody wants to win.
It’s whether your habits get sharper when you’re frustrated. Whether you can take hard coaching without making it personal. Whether you stop negotiating with the standard the second it gets uncomfortable.
Pressure doesn’t build character.
It audits it.
You are only as good as the pitches you swing at. Conversely, you will be bad if you swing at bad pitches.
Good hitters swing at good pitches to hit. Bad hitters swing at bad pitches and miss good ones.
Stanford paid 35,000 people to quit Facebook and Instagram for 6 weeks
Depression dropped. Anxiety dropped. Happiness went up. Women under 25 on Instagram saw the biggest gains
That was 6 weeks. I'm going a full year.
Saban didn’t win 7 titles by accident.
He reminded his players every day:
Entitlement? Nothing.
Somebody owes you? Nothing.
Lose your discipline? Nothing.
NOTHING is more important than being your best.
That’s the standard.
Been at ESPN a long time - this one was an all timer. Before social media, it was as viral as a story can be. I watched it on a tape in the news room. I couldn’t stop watching his teammates.
The weight room is the most influential room in a school.
It’s not a place to hang out — it’s a classroom.
A place where habits are built, standards are set, and character is developed.
