I think the last one is my fault. But people’s intentions make it so difficult to trust.i find it very hard to date without them taking advantage of me.
It’s funny. I always enjoy having time off from work as a teacher, but I also find that I’m at my loneliest.
Don’t get me wrong. I am very stressed at times as a teacher and the sheer load of it all can get overwhelming. I feel like I need to breathe sometimes in those moments.
But, when I get the extended breaks, I am reminded that I’m essentially alone with my thoughts. And I think about the fact that my family doesn’t really contact me much anymore, I don’t really have many friends outside of work and Buddhist activities… and dating is a zero.
@deonteiy Hope you’re okay. Please take care. That was very traumatizing. Even if it was just words, that level of harassment and hate is very anxiety inducing.
People just don’t know how the homophobia feels unless you’re moving through the world and you get hit with the shit.
At the same time, I’m grateful I had a chance to observe the space. Many new perspectives, ways of thinking, philosophies opened up for me through here.
It’s a good thing most people on here I follow aren’t active anymore; I get to type my thoughts out, get to just.. exist in the quiet.
Twitter was so great pre-X but so many people just wanted to use discourse to monetize and promote themselves.
Intention and introspection seem to be guiding me in this era of my life. I’m happy to be in my later 30s now, and actually think my 40s will be my best decade.
Lately, I’ve been writing, crafting books, working on my literary projects.
It’ll be a long time before I get the nerve to even explore publishing, but I’d like to think that I get to write the kinds of characters I don’t see in literature, the kids of characters I once needed.
2025 update: I’m still black, I’m still leftist, still gay af.
Still a teacher, tho at a magnet school nowadays. I’m still chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, and am eternally grateful for that.
Lately, I’ve been grappling with a recent ADHD diagnosis, struggles with assertiveness.
@feralscum I didn’t think you were on anymore! Yeah, as this platform got more and more right wing, I stopped posting.
It’s almost like a time capsule for a time where we were trying to push to be better culturally. We’ve regressed in so many ways. Sigh.
:)
@nathandaven@HowEPhil@MARTAservice They did a pilot called MARTA Reach. It was like Uber/lyft but it called a mini bus. It was fairly quick. I think they might really have something if it is executed right!
