A multi-option referendum may sound democratic, but for Tamils it risks dividing the national mandate.
After decades of broken promises, failed agreements, war crimes, and the denial of self-determination, the issue is not whether Tamils prefer different forms of autonomy. The issue is whether the Tamil people can clearly express their collective political will.
Including the status quo, federalism, and independence on the same ballot could fragment the vote and allow others to claim that Tamils have no clear mandate.
Self-determination requires clarity, not ambiguity. Unity should strengthen the Tamil mandate, not dilute it.

A series of recent criminal cases involving Buddhist monks—including allegations related to child abuse, prostitution solicitation, and drug trafficking—raise serious questions about accountability and oversight.
Tamil communities in the North-East have long expressed concern about the expansion of state-backed Buddhist institutions in their regions without local consent.
No individual or institution should be above the law. Equal justice, transparency, child protection, and community rights must be upheld for all.

Former spymaster Suresh Sallay now complains of being strip-searched while in custody.
For thousands of Tamil families whose loved ones were disappeared, tortured, detained without trial, or never returned, this is a painful reminder of a system that denied them dignity, justice, and truth for decades.
Human rights must apply to everyone. But accountability must also apply to everyone.
The question remains: Who will answer for the thousands of Tamil victims still awaiting justice?

🚨 Sri Lankan police halt Eelam song at Jaffna concert, summon singer Kokulan
Three Tamils, including singer Kokulan, the son of late musician S.G. Santhan, have been summoned to the occupying Sri Lankan police station in Kopay to provide statements, after the security forces abruptly halted a song performance midway at a musical event held in Urumpirai, Jaffna.
The incident took place during a performance by the “S.G. Santhan Music Group”, where officers attached to the occupying Sri Lankan police force in Kopay intervened whilst a song relating to Eelam was being performed.
According to witnesses, Sri Lankan police officers entered the venue during the performance, instructed organisers to immediately halt the song and warned against continuing with what they described as “LTTE-related” content.
Video footage circulating on social media appears to show the performance being abruptly stopped following the police intervention.
Despite the thousands of racist, sexist and vile Sinhala comments flooding Tamil social media pages, here is a reminder.
The Tamil struggle was not about chauvinism.
It was about freedom, equality and living in peace.
The words of V Prabhakaran.

Sincere thanks to Congresswoman @RepDeborahRoss for using your voice to remember the victims of the Tamil genocide and standing with Tamil Americans in the call for justice, accountability, and lasting peace. Your solidarity means a great deal to Tamil Americans.

In Sri Lanka, a soldier who was convicted of murdering eight Tamil civilians, including three children, was granted a presidential pardon.
He slit their throats and dumped their bodies in a ditch.
He remains free to this day.
No other soldiers were ever held accountable.
