My family lived in Colorado before it was a state. We didn’t cross the border—the border crossed us.
I grew up on a reservation, where I witnessed the inequality buried beneath the myth of the American Dream.
I didn’t have the words then to describe what I saw. I do now.
Ah, the pity. Fated to drift forever through the void as gravity's plaything.
Oh, cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones. It bones for thee.

Today is filled with a bunch of reckless decisions.
Tonight I’m running on Rev. Dr. Amanda Henderson’s Chase the Moon 12-hr Endurance Run relay team with the legendary @thatbrianlee !
With two WK bishop candidates remaining, there's small part of me that's sad that I can't run in the room to shout "BISHOP COMBAT!" and play the Moral Kombat theme at an annoying volume.
Because the Western Jurisdiction of the UMC has 7 certified candidates for bishop, I searched 'election by combat.' It is not a thing. Never was a thing. Probably will never be a thing.
President: "We’re fighting for our right to live, to exist. And should we win today the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight."
Given the circumstances, should the U.S. be successful in this final offensive, Whitmore's speech this morning could wind up as integral to American history as Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, MLK’s "I Have a Dream," & Dusty Rhodes' "Hard Times." A++ performance from our President.
BREAKING NEWS: Irene Elizabeth “Beth” Stroud’s ministerial orders as a an elder were removed in 2004 after a church trial in which she admitted to being in a committed relationship with another woman. The Rev. Stroud is now reinstated as #UMC clergy. https://t.co/oFE4CKQs9A
@GenZPastor There's not a whole lot of flexibility for me even I've heard people tell me I'm the future. My prayer is I can some day serve on BOM and help shift this culture if indeed I'm one possible future.
@GenZPastor Yes to this whole thread. It's incredibly annoying b/c the system assumes full-time elder in local church. I'm a provisional elder serving as the lead pastor in a local church at half-time AND kept my govt job to keep those benefits.
In what presiding Bishop David Graves called a “historic moment,” General Conference on May 2 passed new legislation granting authority to deacons to preside at the sacraments in their ministry settings.

Thanks to those speaking up about clergy pay inequality at #UMCGC. The numbers presented as average salaries don’t paint the whole picture. It varies so much by conference and jurisdiction. Women also often serve less than full-time. (Not always by their own choice.)
