Last week, babe told me that she packed ₦1.2m àjọ and she would be transferring it to me so I can add it to our stocks investment, but I declined. I remember she told me earlier in the year that she would be joining a 100k per month contribution to pack 1.2m and I actually did laugh at her. I was like why would you wait a whole year to save up ordinary 1.2m but she was not discouraged. The money is her reward for discipline and consistency, and she deserves to have her investment in her own name.

₦10 million isn't crazy markup in my opinion, it's definitely on the high side but I wouldn't go as far as calling it evil. The ones adding 50% markup or more however, are the real evil folks.

Car dealerships is incredibly capital-intensive. Dealers tie up huge amounts of money in inventory, take on huge financial risks, cover shipping, customs, storage, staff, and operating costs, and then sometimes have to wait months before sell one car. Cars aren't fast-moving products.

I completely understand your frustration, especially if you know how to source the car yourself and can avoid paying the premium. But not everyone has that knowledge, the right contacts, or the time to navigate the process. In many cases, people are paying not just for the car, but for the convenience, expertise, and the risks the dealer has already absorbed. Knowledge and information have value, and that's part of what the markup reflects.

He is making valid point, but it is harder for Nigerians and I'll explain.

A Chinese neighbour told my Dad she needed N2billion naira loan and wanted to know how she could access it. My dad told her to go to the bank. She said the interest rate was too high that she would rather fly to China to get it at 2%. That is N40m on N2b

How do you compete with that? Most Nigerians don't have that leverage.
