A big proposal for Aave goes live for voting tomorrow:
Aave V4 could become the first major lending protocol to accept native Bitcoin as collateral.
Very much looking forward to being able to borrow USDC against native BTC in DeFi.
Some nice updates to @aave Pro this week (and it's only Wednesday), making it easier to earn, borrow and manage your positions.
New Earn cards, borrow as you deposit, and swap your assets without having to repay your position.
And next week, something brand new coming 👻
Aave Labs and its co-authors have submitted a legal framework for decentralized lending protocols and non-custodial vaults to the SEC’s Crypto Task Force and Division of Corporation Finance.
Today, we are releasing a public summary of our paper.
Morpho's dCOMP/USDC market is a good reminder to look beyond APY.
Lenders earn 69% APY, which seems great, but a single guy borrowed $14.2M USDC against 18.2% of COMP supply.
If his position gets liquidated, lenders will take massive bad debt losses.
Lending and borrowing are now re-enabled on Aave following a precautionary freeze.
Withdrawals and repayments remained available throughout.
Aave was unaffected, and all positions remain overcollateralized.
Update following the Binance incident:
All markets are now unfrozen across Aave V3 and V4.
They were frozen as a precaution after initial reports, which paused new deposits and borrows while withdrawals and repayments continued as normal.
Aave contracts were unaffected by the incident and positions remained fully collateralized.
So the hacker supplied stables and borrowed WETH on Aave
No rational person would conclude that there is a threat to Aave here
Really some dumb takes today
Since everyone seems to misunderstand the frozen markets as risk for Aave:
It’s just a precautionary measure. dropping borrow caps to zero (effectively disabling borrowing) could have just been enough but that would have left for the attackers a possibility to supply to Aave to make it harder for asset issuers to seize stolen funds.
@PaulFrambot You can supply collateral on blue directly and borrow everything you can with no tate limits or any possibility to stop anything, not sure what you are talking about here
We’re aware of reports of a potential incident affecting Binance-affiliated wallets.
Aave’s contracts are unaffected, and positions remain overcollateralized. As a precaution, all DAO-operated markets across V3 and V4 have been frozen.
The freeze pauses new deposits and borrows, and users can still withdraw and repay their existing positions.
