In my recent paper in @eLife, we image single blood cells in the central nervous system (retina), using ultrafast imaging and adaptive optics. Imaging is done noninvasively and label-free, using safe near-infrared light. In thread below are some nice videos from our paper. (1/4)
In this video from our paper, single-cell blood flow is imaged noninvasively in the living retina. Cardiac pulsation of the laminar flow profile is visualized in a retinal vessel only a few times larger than the size of a red blood cell. (3/4)
