@Stormborn_Bk@SallyGold You definitely seem to have a lot of hate. Oh and you don’t know me.
There’s a protected bike lane on broad channel, which doesn’t seem to be oppressing people there too much. Cars still go. Maybe get a grip?
@Stormborn_Bk@SallyGold How about in a city with over 8 million people, most of which don’t drive on a day to day basis, we share public space and keep kids safe
@djw172 It’s a compelling narrative: amenities return to a neighborhood, upper middle class white people decide they want to live there, prices go up, black people who already lived there get priced out.
Is it a false narrative? Are there policies to counteract the displacement?
@scruffyy90@TransAlt@CitiBikeNYC@lyft Not enough. And where did it go down more? Places with daylighting aka a road diet / calming measure like Jersey city and Hoboken. Come on, this is common sense.
@scruffyy90@TransAlt@CitiBikeNYC@lyft Why do you think they’re on the sidewalk? Oh right they don’t want to get killed by a road rage driver in a 2 ton SUV. Getting hit by a car running a red light at 30mph will likely kill you, or potentially your whole family. A cyclist can’t go nearly that fast and will not.
@scruffyy90@TransAlt@CitiBikeNYC@lyft My ilk lol ok bud
Asia too though right? And South America…
I think although you don’t seem oblivious, your position that road diets and safety measures increase accidents, despite data showing the opposite, shows how you’re not really data-led
@scruffyy90@TransAlt@CitiBikeNYC@lyft Driving is optional for many with cars especially for those with parked cars. And drivers are on average wealthier…
It’s also not usually storming and you said we should kick out ride share so which is it?
@scruffyy90@TransAlt@CitiBikeNYC@lyft Brother I literally said we should expand transit, and an effect of many car reducing policies is that people who actually need to drive have less traffic.
Have you heard of congestion pricing and the fact that it’s now easier for people who need to drive to do so?
