Having accomplished a lot in my professional life, I was oblivious to this for years:
I’m a master of procrastination.
Especially when it comes to doing things for myself.
Don’t get me wrong, I get a lot of shit done, probably more than many of my peers. I’m just mostly doing it for other people’s benefit.
When it comes to my business, my passions, my dreams, it’s always “I’ll deal with this tomorrow”, “I’ll read this book first and then start”, constantly starting and then abandoning projects at the very last minute or — even worse — putting them live and never bothering to sell them.
Can I change that in my 40s? I damn hope so, because otherwise I’ll continue being an aspiring writer who doesn’t write anymore and an entrepreneur who never starts a new venture!
@igorhansachat Good idea, thanks! My only concern with this one is it might backfire if they feel that the feedback is unsolicited, but I guess worth a try.
Honest question: how do you help people on social media?
In the "old days" people would ask questions on forums and you would go there & answer them.
Now it seems that everyone shares updates and try to teach people, nobody seems to ask anymore?
I want to help people, but how?
@buildwithshyam Me? Nothing! 😝
But I have made millions for others and my observation and belief is that in the vast majority of cases the language doesn't matter.
@theo_jil MOVES
Very impressive considering the full-time job and having a kid!
I'm trying to find the motivation to build products and grow an audience but when I reach the end of the workday I just run out of steam and I feel bad not spending time with family (many kids)...
@aliByteCode Unfortunately (for me) it's possible THE most important part of the job. I've built so many things that ultimately failed because I didn't bother to do proper, or any marketing.
Analyse your time to discover what you actually value. Productivity isn't just doing more things mindless, is focusing on what really matters for you. Ultimately, we are what we value.
@igorhansachat@marclou Of course! Actually way less than 1% I guess my thinking is that for the ones they succeed it won't matter and for the ones that fail will help them fail fast. I kind of envy it because I'm still a dinosaur that cares about the underlying tech and I feel that it shows me down. 😃
@igorhansachat@marclou Possibly, but does it matter if they make 10x their costs? Ultimately if you are running a business in high margins and can scale fast it doesn't matter. You can always optimise that part later.
Boredom is GOOD for your brain. Train it by NOT picking up your phone when you feel the temptation.
WALK at least once a week WHITHOUT touching your phone or putting on headphones.
Let your mind BREATHE. That triggers it to strategize on how to achieve your future dreams.
