@derwake1@TomFornelli It’s crazy how his mental health issues and addiction never were a problem until he was going to have to face the consequences of his actions
@SlingCheek@SnapAgainThanos They aren't laws, they're terms of a contract or bylaws. You need to figure out how contracts/bylaws work. They clarify venues for disputes.
@SlingCheek@SnapAgainThanos Make another rule, "the jurisdiction governing these rules shall be that of the state of New York and any legal challenges shall see the courts of the state of New York serve as venue."
Good luck getting your home cookin' rulings when the judges kids aren't alumni.
@SlingCheek@SnapAgainThanos Make the language: "Any school that knowingly plays an athlete that's bet on their own team, at any point in his collegiate career, shall forfeit the games they play in."
@STXAmbassador@JusticeWhizzer@ThePolverine_ The majority doesn't matter. The fact he gambled on NCAA sanctioned events at all is enough to be permanently ineligible based on all the precedent that exists. I mean, betting on Romanian Soccer is also against the rules (but that's deside the point).
@STXAmbassador@JusticeWhizzer@ThePolverine_ Not all of them though, there were plenty on NCAA sanctioned events... Including those being played by his own team. Be so serious, it being a massive penalty to have done that has been the standard since the beginning of time. Look at the kids from Iowa and ISU.
This is an amazing paragraph.
1. Yada thousands of bets
2. Parenthetical that said bets were against NCAA rules
3. Note that Sorsby was still betting in Texas, which was illegal, but that's ok because it was legal in the other states
4. Hand-wave $90,000 bets over a four-year period
5. Brag about his rich Texan golf buddies.
10/10 no notes.
@STXAmbassador@JusticeWhizzer@ThePolverine_ Yes, I am sure the article by Tim Collishaw who has spent the last 48 hours explaining to everyone on the internet why gambling on sports by the athletes playing them isn't actually a big deal is going to be really enlightening.
@CraigCartonShow The whole "I'm sick, I need help" thing kind of falls on its face when you only say that once you get caught and realize you're about to face the consequences of your actions.
@Deano_1314 What does how the NFL deals with gambling have to do with how the NCAA handles it? Look up Hunter Dekkers, Noah Shannon, Amarr Knox, Shawn Fulcher, Corey Hines, Tony Madlock, Elijah Gray, Will Richardson, etc.
@GunsUpForever@dchirch@mattmosley@TechAthletics Again, that has nothing to do with Texas Tech's ability to kick him off the roster lol
It's an injunction on the **NCAA** and their ability to punish Sorsby or Texas Tech.
@BMBanger@DerekYoungKSO You do realize Boutte was caught almost a year after he played his last college football game, right? The dude was draft in April 2023 and not caught until 2024. What exactly do you want the NCAA to do?
@road_raiders Like the kid's a gd martyr or something and not a guy who deliberating violated the foundational principal of the NCAA in like the most egregious fashion possible and is using the courts to evade the prescribed punishment.
@ridinnerdy87@startkyIeorton They've been doing it for a decade and have yet to pay any consequence. I think they're just going to be fine because their GM is really good and their owners are really rich.
