Today I was surrounded by others motivated to see improved and collaborative CHD care nationwide! I am beyond exhausted tonight but inspired beyond words meeting these amazing people and sharing their ideas for the greater good of CHD care. #maternalchd2023#chdawareness
Congenital Heart Consortium "Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results." – Andrew Carnegie
In the coming years CHD Pregnancy & Maternal Outcomes Consortium will positively impact care and education of CHD women as well as the healthcare professionals that care for them to reduce mortality and morbidity in our population.
I am blessed to be a part of this.
In 2020, at the end of his final year at Pitt, Damar Hamlin organized a toy drive for kids in his hometown of McKees Rocks, Pa. This is the young man who went down on the field tonight in Cincinnati. He is a man; not a number on a jersey. Prayers for Damar.
A concussion is a brain injury.
There is no foolproof test for a concussion at this point.
Even giving someone a battery of tests, athletes can 'pass' them yet still be concussed.
"When in Doubt, Sit them Out"
@TheTopLife We just treat people like their dead to us if they misuse or leave us. Why waste all our precious time and amazing energy killing then have to clean up? And then lie about or go to jail? Taurus Bulls….we’re too bougie for that mess.
@flasportsbuzz@JayLledo If he failed any one of those daily checks, then what? They raise their hand sheepishly and say “Oh hey….we kinda messed up” Said no NFL doc on payroll ever. Nice lawsuit there if he failed a subsequent test after being put back in Sunday.
@flasportsbuzz@JayLledo Concussion 101 - “when in doubt, sit out”. They didn’t sit him out. He was cleared, not put into concussion protocol. No reason to do checks the rest of the week as they are literally implicating they may have made the wrong decision by clearing him.
Today I’ve written to NFL commish Roger Goodell and Dolphins owner Stephen Ross demanding answers about the concussion to @Tua days after he had another injury. As head of Congress’s Brain Injury Task Force I want to know how the hell he was on the field last night.
@EmmanuelAcho Not even last week….it was Sunday just 4 short days ago. Not enough time for his brain to heal after the “back injury”. Absolutely disgusting that everyone ignored the obvious. Thank you for advocating player safety!!!
Announcers keep referring to “last week”…..it was Sunday when Tua experienced this!! His brain was not ready to play tonight because he hadn’t healed from SUNDAY’S “neck injury” concussion. https://t.co/HKF3VunD1n
Regarding Tua: for those saying, “well he passed the concussion test.”
I passed a concussion test once, finished playing in the game, flew home, drove to my neighborhood and had no idea which house was mine. Test or not, the man couldn’t walk straight. Play it safe!
