Iran was trying to use the North Korean model to get a nuke: create sufficient conventional deterrence so you won’t be challenged in acquiring one (it’s called the Seoul Hostage Problem).

This has been explained over and over since day one.

Everyone claiming shifting goalposts or no imminent threat has been lying.

The reason North Korea was allowed to get nukes is because Seoul (and its 10 million inhabitants) is within artillery and rocket range of North Korea.

During the 1994 nuclear crisis, the Clinton administration seriously considered airstrikes on North Korea’s Yongbyon reactor but backed off precisely because of the artillery threat to Seoul.

Iran was trying to accomplish the same by stockpiling missiles and drones which would have had the same deterrent effect. The proof is what Iran has been doing in the past month: attacking all its neighbors in order to pressure the US to stop attacking it

Beyond this, they were building medium-range ballistic missiles that could reach Paris and London, meaning all of Europe could be held hostage as they built a nuclear bomb.

The reason Iran has not built a nuclear weapon until now is not because it couldn’t, but because it knew it would be attacked and denied this capability.

So by allowing them to continue developing this conventional deterrence, you would be allowing Iran to get a nuclear weapon.

And unlike North Korea, Iran is led by an eschatological death cult

Reagan saw nuclear mutually assured destruction (MAD) as both morally bankrupt (because of the innocent-body-count problem) and dangerously fragile because it assumed flawless rationality between adversaries…this means it only takes one irrational actor to destroy the world.

Working backwards from the conclusion that Iran’s Islamist regime must never have a nuclear weapon, it was necessary for the US to attack Iran to deny it the conventional capacity to hold the entire eastern hemisphere hostage.

Every European leader knows this and behind the scenes praises the US for this action. But they are cowards, held hostage by their own internal Muslim populations, and so adopt these ridiculous public positions.

This was never about Israel. And if your argument is that Iran should be allowed to get a nuclear weapon then you are a fool and a traitor to western civilization…you’re a useful idiot

During COVID you carried a vaccine card everywhere like a hall pass from the government just to eat at a restaurant.

But getting a birth certificate or waiting two hours at the DMV to prove you're a citizen before you vote? That's oppression.

The Democratic Party is pro illegal immigration.

Counts non-citizens in the Census. Census determines congressional seats. More non-citizens means more seats means more power. No voter ID means no way to check.

That's how you keep power without wearing a crown.

Unrealized gains tax for Gen-Z:

You buy a Pokémon card for $50.

Someone offers you $500 for it. You say no. You love that card. You're keeping it.

The government says: "Cool, but that card is worth $500 now. You owe us $100 in taxes."
You: "…I didn't sell it."

Government: "Don't care. Pay up."

You don't have $100 lying around. So you're forced to sell the card you love just to pay a tax on money you never received.

Next month? That card drops back to $50.

Your card is gone. Your money is gone. And the government shrugs.

That's a wealth tax on unrealized gains. They don't pay you back the tax...

Now picture this.

Your mom calls you crying. She has to sell the house she raised you in. Not because she can't afford it. She's lived there 30 years. It's paid off.

But some website says it's worth more now and the government says she owes $15,000 she doesn't have.

So she sells your childhood home. The kitchen where she made you breakfast. The doorframe where she marked your height every birthday.

Gone.

To pay a tax on money that was never real.

Now picture the opposite.

Your dad put everything into his small business. For 20 years he built it from nothing. One year the business is "valued" at $2 million on paper. He owes a massive tax bill. He empties his savings. Sells his truck. Borrows money. Pays it.

Next year the market crashes. His business is worth $200,000.

He lost everything to pay a tax on a number that doesn't exist anymore.

Does the government give him his money back?
No.

Does the government give him his truck back?
No.

Does the government care?
No.

They sold this idea as "taxing billionaires." But billionaires have armies of lawyers, offshore accounts, and trusts. They'll be fine.

You know who won't be fine? Your mom. Your dad. Your neighbor with a small business. The farmer down the road who's had the same land for four generations and now has to sell it because dirt got expensive.

You're not taxing wealth. You're taxing people for owning things.

It's like getting a parking ticket for a car you might drive somewhere someday.

They want you to own nothing and be happy. To fund the fraud, waste and abuse of the welfare state they created.

There is enough money. More tax isn't needed. It's all a lie. But you've been gaslit into believing this is a rich vs poor debate.

After 40 years (born and raised) I left WA. Moment is leaving this month as well.

I'm not even a millionaire affected by this tax. But when you add up all the costs to run a business in WA we can't afford it. You can build a remote team and re-open in Wyoming, removing all of these costs.

WA is incredibly beautiful (especially the summers) and the people are great. Unfortunately the numbers don't lie and unless you run a super high margin software business, WA is just too expensive.

Personally...you'd never pick WA to start a company.
- Gas taxes (now some of the highest in the state)
- Sales tax (up to 10.5% in Seattle)
- Property tax (1% of your home value with a path they can take this to 3%. In total $ this tax they have increased nearly 100% over the last decade)
- Capital gains tax (new in the last three years went form 0 -> 9%. it targets business owners and not real-estate).
- Estate tax (they recently changed it to a progressive system that is up to 35% just to the state of WA)
- Housing prices are some of the highest in the country.
- Food costs are unreal, just visit a Seattle restaurant or grocery store.

Business...
- Very little capital. Great angels but almost no VC or larger funding sources.
- Super high salaries for tech talent (this has changed but amazon, microsoft, etc paid very high rates for a very long time).
- B&O Tax: paid as a % of your sales.
- Sales & Use Tax (this is the real killer)

What pushed us out was the recent change to Sales & Use Tax. It used to be you paid this tax on physical things you bought for your business, similar to sales tax. Now you pay it on 100% of the items you buy, think shopify, aws, google, etc. Even if your team is remote you pay 10% sales tax on 100% of these purchases no matter where peole are located.

But the real kicker, was they expanced this law to be a tax that applies to all digital advertising. Run FB ads in Germany? You pay WA state a 10% tax. Overnight that is a+$200K a year tax that did not exist last year. Again not even based in where your ads run or where your team is. Incorporated in WA state? You will pay this tax.

What makes this sad is all political diversity disappeared years ago. It's that debate that keeps government from taking everything. One political team has run the state for +30 years and Seattle for more than 50 years. This train has been coming for years and is now accelerating. WA government can never have enough $.

I hope there is a new generation of company builders who see this is an opportunity and can run into the burning building.

What bothers me about this bill, as someone who was born and raised in Seattle and spent half my childhood in Island County, is not just the tax itself. It is the worldview behind it.

Of course we want to support early education, school lunches, and programs that help uplift the most marginalized people in our communities. That is not the issue. The issue is whether the state actually understands who it is targeting, who it is hurting, and whether it can be trusted to distinguish between durable wealth and the fragile economics of people trying to build something.

Washington keeps writing statewide tax policy as if the whole state is Seattle. It is not. This state, Seattle especially, loves to perform its liberalism. It talks constantly about progress, equity, and protecting the vulnerable. But bills like this expose how selective that politics can be. When statewide tax policy is written around a narrow image of wealth, it does not just touch Seattle tech workers. It also reaches family-owned and pass-through businesses across the state, including people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds who built something over time and do not live anything like the caricature of the wealthy.

Across the state, there are family-owned businesses, small operators, and early-stage companies where income is irregular, cyclical, and often tied up in keeping the business alive. In those businesses, the real risk is not the average year. It is the unusual year — the year when several years of work, reinvestment, or one strong season finally shows up as income on paper. That is what this bill misunderstands. It treats that kind of income as excess personal wealth, when in many cases it is the very capital a business needs to survive, hire, grow, and reach the next stage.

That is why this bill is so destructive. It kills family-owned and operated businesses that are already trying to make it. It kills startups before they ever have the chance to become durable. And while the American Dream is often more myth than reality, this bill punishes even the attempt at upward mobility in a system that is already stacked against ordinary people.

As a woman of color founder building a women’s brand, I now find myself researching where I need to move my business in order to give it the best chance of surviving — and where I can eventually build something that rewards the employees who help me get there.

That is the problem with bills like this. Even if today it is 9.9% above $1 million, the moment the mechanism exists, people start asking the obvious next question: when does 9.9 become 10? When does $1 million become $900,000? When do success, marriage, or growth become things the state quietly teaches you to fear?

And I do not absolve myself of responsibility for any of this. I voted for this governor. I contributed to the American Dream Killer, and I 100% regret my vote.
