@ragamuffinman33@PastorTrey05 Charlie Kirk made millions comforting an audience that was triggered because too many people no longer agreed that positions of power and authority belonged to Christian white male Americans by default. The debate gimmick allowed viewers to experience holding power vicariously.
@DavidSchrock@TrentHunter@Christ_OverAll Christians in America redistribute over 140 billion dollars per year through charitable giving. Sounds pretty anti-American according to this way of thinking.
@dmichaelclary Setting down one's cross to "push back with strength" because the world is too hostile is hypocritical.
Hebrews 12 encourages us to look to Jesus enduring the cross so we don't grow fainthearted.
But I don't know, maybe Jesus didn't know we'd have to face a world this rough.
@dmichaelclary characteristics of Roman (western) manhood (high status, high power). Or do you think Paul was doing away with gender distinctions here by calling the entire audience to 'act like men'?
@dmichaelclary Jesus says that to follow him one needs to take on the social position of children and the lowest slaves (no status, no power). Because that's how you become great in His Kingdom.
The exhortation to 'act like men' is to remain bravely committed to Jesus, not to take on the
@bobmcnap@osucowboytc In Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus teaches that to be in His Kingdom one needs to love their enemies to be complete as their heavenly Father is complete.
How then can we expect someone to repent without knowing that God loves them, and not just them but their enemies as well.
@bobmcnap@osucowboytc@AletheiaHS The audience in Mark knew that this proclamation was rooted in God's steadfast love.
Does your audience have the same historical and theological background as 1st century Galileans?
@Curi_Christian Christians would rather spend our time fantasizing about a situation where our lust for violence becomes justified than to shod our feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
@aaronrunning_@megbasham So if someone was to recognize the nation they were born into functioned in such a way and pointed out it to others so they could replace that system it would be a good thing?
@ordusky@MickeyGall66598@toddvs35 This would be a fine argument if you were a collectivist. Instead, sadly, you're just a guy who never learned that American conservatism is simply a flavor of the liberalism defined in your screenshot.
@BurglarFart@ferrismattic You would rather live comfortably in a nation that honors God with their lips but not their hearts than face persecution for witnessing faithfully?
