@LimitingThe Yup, it also depends on how processed they are and the use case like deep frying. The blanket statements of "Seed Oils Bad" are nonfactual and require nuance.
@greggertruck Volvo isn't absorbing the cost of parts and labor; the battery manufacturer and the insurance company are covering it. The $5,000 is just the deductible.
@WR4NYGov Lucid delivered 5346 cars q4 25 not 15000. The bigger thing to me Tesla made 17% gross margin ex credit on the cars vs negative margin for both Lcid and Rivn (TBD,but I'm confident as rivians ex credit number has never been profitable)
@LimitingThe In a former life I worked on piston engines running on Landfill gas. We did a 1.5MW install with at 40% thermal efficiency running on unrefined 30-35% methane (it was filtered for particulate). All of the CAT/Detroit engines required 50-60% methane.
@chuckcook Insurance is usually cheaper for AWD and the Regen braking coming from the rear only is less comfortable/normal. That being said, for me it was a $ decision, and my RWD is super nice.
@TailosiveEV I mean I have seen an I-PACE shut down at 13% SOC as well. Both are serious issues. Rivian having OTA will be helpful. That being said, if this was a Tesla issue it would be national news.
As with most things I think "It Depends". So a company like Google can run the wear items like HBM memory hard. The analogy would be similar to ETH mining with GPU's 7-10 years ago. If you were careful and ran them cool/slower (80% of peak) they would last a number of times longer.
@chuckcook Tesla Nav Errors are also my biggest issue REFUSES to use a direct route leaving my house, will add a 4 turns and 1-2 miles to a 1 mile drive. Been chatting with Grok 4.1, GPT5 and Gemini 3 Pro with screenshots and NONE of them get it. Google maps gets it right every time.
Tesla since 2018, AMD since 2019. AMD's strength lies in its hardware design, enabling lower costs. Nvidia is 3-5 years ahead in software, maintaining a lead they've held for a decade. AMD remains the second choice, and that's unlikely to change. However, AMD can undercut NVDA while still achieving solid margins.
