There’s a place in Iowa where the earth itself was sculpted into giant animals.
You can walk right over them and never know.
But from the air?
They come to life.
Effigy Mounds National Monument is one of America’s great ancient mysteries.
When it comes to where you choose to live, the most important question that is often overlooked is: "what kind of person do you want to become?"
I usually tell my friends from abroad that living in Japan changed me, and made me a much calmer and kinder person, because of who I have been lucky to have around on a daily basis.
The opposite is unfortunately true as well: if you are surrounded by people who are often rude or trying to take advantage of you, you become mistrustful and angry.
Too many people choose their home base according to professional and financial opportunities, and forget about the most important part: the person that they are becoming.
@EBarako@AmeraucanaLover@elonmusk Consumer electronics have never been cheaper. Mortgages, housing costs in general, chemical free food, and health care on the other hand ...

Effigy Mounds National Monument is one of America’s great ancient mysteries.
Each of these massive mounds was built by hand.
A single large effigy required moving over 20,000 cubic feet of soil — all carried in woven baskets.
Even if we can't fully grasp the builders' message to those above.
The scale of their efforts tells us it mattered.
@BrightInsight6 I'm confused when people who champion Western ideals like democracy are put off when people have opinions of their own rather than deferring to the "experts."
History has proven that today's experts are likely to undergo revision or be debunked as we learn more.

Georgia's backcountry holds one of America's greatest ancient mysteries.
Two massive birds with 120-foot wingspans were made from thousands of white stones.
But the Rock Eagle & Rock Hawk can ONLY be fully appreciated from above.
Who built them and why is a mystery. 🧵
We may never understand why these stone figures were made.
But they're a reminder: There's so much we don't know about ancient America.
In the 1930s observation towers were built.
Visitors still say that to appreciate Rock Hawk and Eagle, the towers should be even taller.
