Hey y'all, I'm very minimally on this platform now for...reasons. Really appreciate the people I've met on here, and happy to stay in touch. DM for alternative contact info!
I'm also posting about walking through the Calgary's Best Walks guidebook. Same handle, yyc [dot] bike.
@Alasdair07 @RobTPublic@CWalcottYYC Same for bikes, we have so much in common! Guess we all just have to walk a few steps. (Seriously I know it sounds snarky but it's often true.)
Suggesting that infants be flown out of province to receive the care they need is a declaration of failure by this UCP government.
My heart goes out to the families of kids in the NICU who should be celebrating the birth of their child, but who are instead dealing with nightmares. Being told that the care their little one needs is not available in Alberta only adds to their tragedy.
Danielle Smith should be focused on doing what is necessary to recruit and retain critical front line workers rather than nickel and diming them at the bargaining table and then writing press releases slandering them after the fact. This is not the way to ensure we have the health-care workers that we need.
She needs to reverse her decision to cancel the new hospital in South Edmonton that would have added new NICU beds in addition to a new Stollery, just to bring us to the minimum capacity that we need for a young and expanding population.
This is the most important job that the Premier has, but instead she spends her time whining about the Prime Minister’s jurisdiction. Danielle Smith needs to understand this situation as the emergency that it is.
20%. of the river valley is dedicated to one sport that can only be played by a very small number of people at a time. ⛳️ ⛳️ ⛳️

3. Normalization: “The term ‘accident’ has normalized road deaths to the extent that it is difficult to create buy-in for action... When crashes are framed as accidents, people view road carnage as a fact of life, a cost society pays for the ‘luxury’ of travelling by automobile.”
The people so worried about a few acres of grass on a busy intersection had no issues with building an 8 lane freeway through the actual Weaselhead a couple miles to the west. This is not about preserving greenspace. This is simple nimbyism. #yyccc#glenmorelanding
@Webber4Confed It's funny that in your latest newsletter you complain about the Canada Dental Care Plan costper taxpayer, then have a shiny tooth promoting it.
Taxes fund good things. Also, because we have a graduated income tax, it's not a simple amount per person as you say.
The case to #SaveNoseCreek continues to grow stronger. With a potential drought on the horizon, every riparian setback needs reevaluated. We are slowly choking our most vital future resource. #ProtectOurWaters
“a fraction of the provincial surplus would not only end homelessness in Edmonton, it would end it across Alberta. If there is political will from the provincial government, almost every person in this province could have a home within a few years.”
"The Ring Road was the prospect that materialized in city plans back in December 1953." The concept of "induced demand" was introduced in the 60's, & confirmed by evidence that adding more lanes doesn't decrease congestion. The irony of the ribbon cutting shouldn't be lost here.
What are the dumbest rules of the road for bicycles?
My pick is - dismount bike before crossing the road
It's slower & more inconvenient for the biker and driver
It increases time on road which ups the danger
It makes drivers think it's ok to harass you if you don't dismount
