@sharrond62 If any sitting PM resigns then that should Automatically trigger an election. I know we elect a party not the person who will be PM, but we do so on the understanding it is led by a particular person., who has laid out their case to be PM in debates etc during election campaigns

@BurnsideWasTosh Its incredible that a Labour Party with 403 MPs had to manufacture an election to get Burnham in to run the party and become PM, and shows how inept they all must be. And to put him in that position with no questions asked is treating the country with absolute contemt.

@PolitlcsUK Its quite damming of Labour that not one of those MPs were deemed capable to lead the party and become PM, they are so bad an election had to be manufactured to parachute Andy Burnham in to take on that role.

@GBNEWS Law needs to change so it is mandatory for a general election to be called if the party leader resigns. Maybe that would stop the endless changes.

@Steven_Swinford @oliver_wright So if Burnham looses the by-election then surely a general election would have to follow. Labour have clearly demonstrated a lack of confidence in Sir Kier Starmer. And also a lack of confidence in any MP within Labour to become PM, as evident in the clamour to get Burnham back.

The MI6 refusal to clear Mandelson was raised in the Commons on the 16/9/25.
Starmer and anyone else claiming they did not know is even more of a blatant lie. The HoC was advised.

Starmer should be charged with misleading the HoC.🤨
