"Black women, especially the African women, are the victims of threefold oppression. One dimension of this is the traditions and mores of their own communities. It is our fear of addressing these retrograde customs and traditions which lies at the root of people's opposition to the issues of women's emancipation. It is clear that this is a responsibility we can no longer shirk. Doubtless such an exercise will encounter resistance. But, as is the case with all new ideas, those who have been brought up with the old feel uncertain and threatened by this process. If these ideas have any value, they will in the end win converts and become generally accepted in our ranks. What is absolutely impermissible is that we censor or outlaw radical ideas merely because they cause some of us discomfort. Within our Black communities, it is patriarchal attitudes and insitutions that oppress and degrade our women. It is high time we had the courage to grasp the nettle and subject all these to withering criticism. The ones best suited to the task are the women from the communities in question." -Phyllis Jordan [Ntantala], 'Black Womanhood and National Liberation', Sechaba, December 1984. Picture: Pzacad
@OpenserveZA@Afrihost we have not had a connection since Friday , a query was logged on Friday morning but there’s been no connection or updates nothing from both companies. This is in Randpark Ridge.
@Afrihost@OpenserveZA we have not had any connection since Friday morning and there’s been no feedback or whatsoever from either parties. This is so frustrating
@OpenserveZA, any response would do even a NO or nothing yet, anything would do. I am trying to understand when it became the norm to beg a service provider for service a customer pays for... @Afrihost as my ISP, you are also ignoring any request for an update
I’m a white person in a farm area in South Africa, recently, almost burglary victim. I have Black, English & Afrikaans neighbours & we stick together & experience the same threats. There isn’t white targeted crime, despite our history where white ppl targeted crime @ black ppl.
@Anele Yeah I don’t know what’s happening with AVIs lately, they hold R27 000 of my money also in December, i was confused because im used to R3000 deposit .
But hey they return it back in January which is like a bonus but hey that’s a lot
Is it not interesting that Trump as US president on one side of his mouth speaks of taking Gaza (Greenland and Canada). On the other side of his mouth, opposes South Africa’s Expropriation Act seeking to use NIL compensation for equitable distribution?
The imperialism set out here is at its most naked form!
We will all do well to emphasise the historic similarity of Gaza, West Bank (Palestine as a whole) and to South Africa and Apartheid! FACT: It is the same!
