@tarynewyss@TraderJonah I love the Muppets, but a FIVE MINUTE "pre-show" that reveals all of the show's tech capabilities immediately and has nothing at all to say and no connection to the show is... bad. I mean, they've all been bad by some metric except the original. 😭😭😭
@Cartarsauce I eventually came around to One, but I still think the magic of the original WOC was the slow reveal of the tech. First fountains, then moving fountains, then color, then the entire field springs to life. And you can't beat the theme song. 🥹
It was my first time catching the #TokyoDisneySea Maritime Band. They played a medley of songs representing different attractions at the various “Ports of Call” at the park.
They sounded great under the “Passagio MiraCoasta” / Mediterranean Harbour entrance.
Dropping a little #LayoutTuesday on your timeline with a look into the last major IP-free addition to Walt Disney World – 2006's Expedition Everest. It's the custom coaster of all custom coasters, and two decades later, still a masterpiece. 🤌 #ParkLoreArt
And while you're at it, I also took a look at the last major IP-free addition at every Disney and Universal Park in a separate quiz-style list. 👀 https://t.co/FQmpON3tm9
@CathodeCoaster My one that got away is art I KNOW I SAW with MY OWN EYES of the building itself as a giant Atlantean drill burst up from the earth from an early concept. 😞
Obviously the queue details are so great, I just can’t understand why the actual show in the building is so… bad. The launch tunnel just continuously lit, no flashing, no lightning, so scrims you race through… add the tree, sure, but everything else feels… worse?!
My weird discovery has been that all Verbolten needed was a tuneup for lighting and show moments in the building, and adding back the massive painted scrims.
Instead, we lost all the stylization for “Enjoy your ride on Verbolten,” a comical witch, a warehouse, and rock music? 🤨
A behind the scenes look at Verbolten Forbidden Turn before this new experience opens to the public this week!
Queue upgrades, show building lighting and theming is in all place for the first guests to experience this re-imagined attraction! @BuschGardensVA#Verbolten
I can’t overstate what a bummer I’m feeling right now as someone with a Verbolten tattoo. I’m embarrassed, I think. That randomized show element is now “Give me five stars!” No lightning strike as you enter the building why exactly? Bare warehouse walls? 😖
@BGWFans Kind of a bummer because even if the old ride was super stylized, seems like, say, the stylized leaves and wolves surrounding you on the drop was better than hyper real props that don’t do anything. 😞
@BGWFans At least from what I’ve seen there are show elements that are almost a step backward? The lighting on the initial launch tunnel isn’t show programmed at all? The iconic arcing lightning strike at the crest of the launch is gone? No show around the tree?
@NickChaps96 Imagine if audiences of the '60s said, "Why do I need to see time periods I lived through?" Literally, when this ride opened in 1964, its first scene was 65 years in the past. The equivalent today would be the first scene being in the 1960s... which is exactly what it'll be. 😂
I’m so serious that I think they should use this as an opportunity to send components of the original back to Anaheim and have two shows.
Disneyland gets Walt’s Worlds Fair version (1900s-20s-40s-60s) and Disney World gets its Horizons-esque sequel (1960s-80s-2000s-future).
The idea of a totally new animatronic show is pretty hype but the idea of totally scrapping the existing Carousel of Progress is pretty sad, especially on such extremely short notice. Hope they don't do the Disney thing where they scrap the current and then cancel the replacement
