The DA says Public Participation is central to their decision making process. Perhaps to fulfill the legal requirement for it.

And then, literally, does the complete opposite.

If this is not the clearest example of the DA treating the public participation process like an absolute joke then I don't know what is.

1) DA proposes project.

2) Opens it for public participation.

3) The public says NO.

4) The DA then changes the name of the project, redraws the borders of the public participation vote to exclude the NO votes, and to include the YES votes, until it looks like the YES votes are a majority.

5) The community then hires lawyers, protests against it, and asks the DA to stop it.

6) The DA, with the majority in Cape Town City Council, says we are the majority, we don't care, and votes the project through.

Not even joking.
