@jackwindsor In a normal sense, people see a mother as someone who knows a lot about their kids, someone who cares, someone who is in their life. To portray her like that to discredit Amy with their past overall, that’s the problem. It’s disingenuous.
'This ad is going to go down as the most shameful, disgusting, offensive ad this election season.' GOP Rep. Nancy Mace tells @jaketapper it will take time for her party to recover from the damage done by Ohio Gov. candidate Vivek Ramaswamy's ad featuring his opponent's estranged mother.
The anti-Acton ad is now running with a disclaimer that it was paid for by Vivek Ramaswamy and Rob McColley for Ohio, Vivek's campaign committee. But it's still not clear which firm made it. So I looked at the committee's media vendors and found that its biggest one by far is Strategic Media Placement, which received $11.8 million as of June 5. That figure accounts for much of what the committee paid media, polling and digital vendors through that period.
I should be clear that I'm not saying Strategic Media Placement made the ad. I don't know that for certain. I'm saying that this vendor should be at the top of the list for trying to figure that out, and here are a few reasons why.
According to state fictitious-name filings, Strategic Media Placement is registered to do business as "The Strategy Group Company." The campaign's own expenditure filings list Strategic Media Placement and The Strategy Group for Media at the same Delaware, Ohio, address. The CEO of The Strategy Group is Ben Yoho, who served as campaign chief executive officer for Vivek's 2024 presidential campaign, and is married to Tricia McLaughlin, the comms director for that same Vivek campaign. ProPublica reported that The Strategy Group got a share of $220 million in DHS ad contracts awarded under Noem; the firm says it was paid about $226,000 for five film shoots. At the time, McLaughlin was serving as Noem's chief spokesperson. She has said she recused herself from those contracts.
I also looked at state filings for other campaigns and found payments to The Strategy Group for Media for "B-roll and interview shoot" and "media productions."
@earthlyskeptick@JamesSurowiecki@wcdispatch That’s exactly it. He’s trying to fine one little thing that gives any tiny bit of doubt and say it discredits the whole rape allegation. In short, if it isn’t Arthur saying he 100% raped her with pictures, he’s going to call it fake.
@wcdispatch You would have to be a very sick pedophile to actually side with a pedophile rapist over a 12 year girl.
Conservative family values strike again.
What is going on in Texas? The current Texas Agriculture Commissioner said he voted for a Democrat for the first time in his life and that Abbott “needs to go”. This is absolutely wild.
Trump: We were in the midst of negotiating and a lot of stupid people said why aren’t you putting Russian sanctions—
Collins: But you said you didn’t give anything for his release
Trump: If I didn’t do that, you wouldn’t have him coming back.
Collins: So you did give something.
Trump: You don’t know anything. You’re fake news CNN.
Collins: You’re saying you lifted the sanctions in exchange for his release?
Trump: You don’t know what you’re talking about. You’re a low IQ person. You’re a dummy.
Also in today's Morning Jolt, if you look at the horrific, sordid story of Amy Acton's childhood and conclude, “It would be a good idea to make an attack ad featuring Acton’s estranged mother denouncing her,” please see a therapist or perhaps a priest for an exorcism.
JD is saying Amy Acton was not raped as a little girl. Even though there are court documents reviewed by *National Review* that confirm details of her story. Even though Acton’s brother backs her story. Vance has a daughter. But like Bernie Moreno, Vance is such a sycophant that he can’t even be a father first for two minutes. It’s always politics and always the most vile politics. Just an abject failure of a man and a father.
Unearthed footage of Vivek Ramaswamy mocking Amy Acton for being a survivor of childhood abuse:
"She has no vision other than to complain about what someone else did to her"
@Shartapus@LauraRbnsn@magi_jay 2. someone’s attention when someone constantly moves the goal post. In this case, it started as “That’s crazy, how have we not heard of this?” To “Well there were articles of him skipping town and court documents, but he was never convicted so it’s a nothing burger.”
@Shartapus@LauraRbnsn@magi_jay 1. 28 here about to get married. Good job on raising your sons right. I hope to do the same. I think it will change overtime. People first need to start seeing what it means when someone is sexist or racist. No one will come out and say it but it should catch
@DFloowandr98143 Nib was originally created to stop degenerate combo decks like Danger Thunder, and in turn it was less punishing to pure Thunder. When nib can work like that, it’s healthy in the format.
@GrandMagusYGO Nib is meant to punish super degen combo decks. It’s why Danger Thunder became the worse varriant over pure. You get punished by cards like Nibiru for making a super degenerate board. It being impactful is a good thing.
