We are struggling to identify these class averages in a #cryoEM dataset. Does anyone recognize this protein complex from E. coli? Looks to be C2. Doesn't look like the usual culprits (ArnA, GroEL, Catalase, etc.). Sadly preferred orientation so can't get a useful map
@ATinyGreenCell haha I did actually and it said GroEL or proteasome :/
Another person identified it: Turns out it is ODO1: 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase(E1).
After two years of work, weβve made an AI Scientist that runs for days and makes genuine discoveries. Working with external collaborators, we report seven externally validated discoveries across multiple fields. It is available right now for anyone to use. 1/5
I was lucky to see this work over the past year. Awesome work by @AbidKhanEpigen , @DrBrianStrahl, and colleagues only SETD2 and it's novel interaction with nuclear lamin. Very intriguing and many cool questions left to answer!
π¨ Thrilled to share my latest work from the @DrBrianStrahl labβout now in @NatureCellBio! We reveal the first non-catalytic role of the histone methyltransferase SETD2, showing it moonlights in mitosis to preserve nuclear and genome integrity.
Reprocessing some old #cryoEM data from my time in @aleschziner lab. Gonna use this to prove to my students that I used to be awesome in the lab!
2.7 Γ from 550 micros, hand-selected in Leginon and collected in super-res (gasp!) on a Talos with a K2. Ancient by today's standards
Our lab at the NIH (Bethesda, MD) is looking for postdocs to join our team studying the molecular mechanisms of protein trafficking and their links to neurodevelopmental disorders starting on or after 10-1-2025. Send your application to [email protected]. Please repost!
Congrats to Dillon Sloan, UNC SOM Biochemistry and Biophysics grad student in the Rick Baker lab, for earning an NIH Fellowship (F31) from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research
@UNC_Optics@SAPConcur@DOGE I think I misread this earlier. Bc the trip isnβt available in Concur, you canβt submit the proof of a cost savings for the exact itinerary, so you have to b it the more expensive route on Concur?
Coming to #BPS2025? Please attend the CPOW-sponsored workshop "Managing It All: Making Time for Success" on Monday, Feb. 17 at 2:30pm in Room 403B! Come learn how to maximize your productivity and build your time & project management skills! Open to ALL attendees. @BiophysicalSoc
Can I give some unsolicited advice? When communicating on this catastrophe, donβt lead with βI know the NIH is inefficient and needs serious reform, butβ¦β. You are undercutting the entire message and buying into the frame of the arsonists. This is not a scientist audience.
