"Evidence of nuclear geometry-driven anisotropic flow in OO and Ne−Ne collisions at 5.36 TeV"
Even in these tiny collisions, the data matches hydrodynamic models. We still see fluid-like behaviour with very low viscosity, like in Pb-Pb collisions.

Trying not to have too much FOMO over missing the Initial Stages conference in Taiwan this week!
The sPHENIX Experiment has some exciting first results on jet probes of the QGP - a classic dijet asymmetry, steered by @CUBoulderPhys grad student Dan Lis!

ALICE at Initial Stages 2025:
Plenary talks on “ALICE Highlights” by Sushanta Tripathy and “ALICE results with small systems and light ions” by Jan Fiete Grosse-Oetringhaus presented exciting results from the recent Oxygen and Neon runs at the LHC and future upgrades.
Congratulations to freshly minted PhD Soohwan Lee (#KoreaUniversity & @CMSExperiment) for passing his defense today. Excellent result: the discovery of bottomonium Y(3S) state in #heavyion collisions @CERN with 5.6 sigma. W/ U.K. Yang (@SeoulNatlUni ), HOD S. Choi & B. Hong.
It is STABLE BEAMS time at the LHC!
The 2025 data taking season has officially started again. At the ALICE experiment we have had today the first stable beams!

📣 We have beam in the tunnel 💫
Today, the Large Hadron Collider received the first particle beams of 2025. #BeamTime
Protons were injected into the #LHC for the first time since November 2024, when the annual year-end technical stop (YETS) started. This is the fourth year of #LHCRun3, and the new data-taking season is about to begin.
Stay tuned for more #ParticlePhysics news.
Final checks underway on the ALICE Muon Spectrometer before the cavern closes this month for the start of the data taking! Captured some exclusive views of ALICE rarely seen on regular visits!
Our congratulations to Spanish astrophysicist Itziar de Gregorio-Monsalvo, who became ESO’s new Representative in Chile and is the first woman to lead this office 👏

In 2024, CERN has reported the highest production rate ever for their proton - proton collisions!
The year will end on a high note, with integrated luminosity surpassing its high expectations for all experiments.
