For years, untreated construction and demolition waste from the Rishikesh–Karnaprayag Railway Project has been freely flowing into the holy Ganga near Jonk, Rishikesh. The river that once ran clear is now turning grey, muddy, and lifeless — polluted beyond damage.
Great thread.
Key argument is - Indian equity does not have a bright future.
Personally, I think it is an exercise in futility in trying to predict what would happen - good or bad. Unfortunately, people spend way too much time doing exactly that.
The only way to build a portfolio is to think of the long term. No so long that we are all dead but yeah think in decades and not in years or months.
In such a scenario, you will need a whole different set of assets which can do well. Some will. Some won't.
Gold is an option.
So is real estate.
International equity is the flavour of the season.
If you get your assets allocation right, asset selection (such as SMID that Anurag is arguing against) won't matter much.
And till that happens - please try and understand what Anurag is saying.

Paid for Cleartax Elite assisted tax filing. Computation gaps aside for now, that's a separate issue.
Scheduled video call on their portal. Joined 5 mins early.
CA never showed up. Call died halfway. Support couldn't even locate the CA.
16 minutes wasted, plus prep time, for nothing.
Chat support is mostly AI with zero real help. No one from the support team even bothered to follow up after.
Raised a ticket. Given how poorly this is managed, not holding my breath.
Paying money in India doesn't guarantee service. Customer isn't the boss here — more like at the mercy of the vendor.
Always said it — no one will ever care about your money as much as you do. Cleartax just reinforced that.
@Cleartax@architgupta care to explain?
Anyone else had "elite" service turn out ordinary?

Untreated sewage is being willfully bypassed directly into the sacred Ganga from STPs in Rishikesh (Swargashram 3.0 MLD & Tapovan 3.5 MLD)!The O&M contractor himself admitted to discharging raw sewage without treatment — as exposed in the CAG Report.Yet, the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board (UKPCB) continues to report these plants as “COMPLIANT”!No strict legal action, no accountability. Pure corruption & government irresponsibility.
India’s Plastic Waste Management Rules let producers, manufacturers & importers register once under EPR and never renew, never get audited, and face almost zero accountability. This is the legal gap polluting our cities and rivers.Time to fix it.
This is the toxic, multicoloured untreated effluent flowing openly in a small drain at Shramik Kunj, Sector 66, Noida, Uttar Pradesh (Mamura area). Plastic waste, foam and poisonous chemicals are freely entering the drainage system that ultimately poisons the Yamuna River. We have made multiple videos and reports on this ongoing crisis, yet no action has been taken by the authorities. What’s worse — whenever we try to record the truth, local people question us aggressively and even give threats. This is not just pollution — it’s a complete system failure and suppression of voices trying to expose it. How long will Noida Authority, UPPCB, and the Pollution Control Board continue to ignore this environmental crime? @dmgbnagar@noida_authority@CeoNoida@CPCB_OFFICIAL@uppcbofficial@myogiadityanath@myogioffice
