Are you at the UW Mary Gates Undergrad Research Symposium today? 10/10 would recommend stopping by Zach Nachod's awesome poster about our work (w/ Alison Gray) using machine learning to predict nitrate on Seaglider tracks!
Stopped by @UWOcean today to watch @frecholalia rock her PhD defense. Forgot to take a picture of the defense but loved celebrating the newest Dr. afterwards among the sunshine and Argo floats undergoing some testing of their own! Congrats again Rosalind!!
🚨New paper alert!🚨 Thanks to @j_d_sharp for leading the charge on our new sea surface pCO2 product and letting me pretend to be a chemical oceanographer for a bit! Please check out his excellent summary of the highlights ⤵️
Our paper describing a 23-year monthly reconstruction of sea surface pCO₂ in the California Current System (CCS) has just been published! 🌊🎉

I passed! Thank you to everyone who watched the talk today and supported me throughout grad school. Couldn't have done it without you all!! 💜💛 @UWOcean #PhDone#PhinisheD
Machine learning! Abyssal circulation! Probably a few lame jokes! Next Tuesday at 10am PT I'll be defending my PhD entitled "Innovative Observational Global and Regional Ocean Water Mass, Circulation, and Mixing Analyses". DM me for the Zoom link #almostthere#sendchocolate
A really wonderful thread on how to approach using machine learning/AI methods in your research! Also keep in mind that if you need to "phone-a-friend" for advice on what class of methods to use, having answers to Q1 & Q2 already will make the discussion go much more efficiently.
