Space is the oldest and wisest part of us. Visiting should always be a priority. We have so much to learn from it. Imagine never sitting with ourselves. Never praying. Never looking inwards. Space is where Earth was born. It’s home.
Regular reminder that I have a bi-weeklyish newsletter about the science behind science fiction. It's my much-needed escape from reality, and it can be yours too! Sign up here: https://t.co/EHQ2L9hxGi
“All of this matters not only to space philosophers but also to people in every walk of life. Philosophically, we want to know if we are alone in the universe or if the cosmos is teeming with intelligent life like ourselves.” @fwhite66#uforeport

@interplanetary I have wondered the same thing. And the media engine can’t use its intelligence to understand that they don’t need to create scarcity and “me against the wealthy” mentality to get us to read their space news. It’s a dying breed. And they know it. But they can’t be stopped.
We need to keep having these conversations until we reach the narrative that clicks in this new phase in our space frontier. @bonzack we may need a new word for Astronaut pilots vs astronaut passengers. I am sure we will find our way there.
I consider "astronaut" to be a career, a paid position, like "pilot."
By flying in a plane as a passenger, one does not become a pilot.
Under this definition, Wally Funk is still a retired astronaut.
“China now has three landers currently operating on the Moon. No other country has safely landed on the lunar surface since 1976. If successful, the mission will be the first time humans have retrieved lunar samples since that date as well.” Via @futurism
“Late last year, astronomers grabbed the public’s attention when they announced they have observed an alien comet. Now, a study of the comet using data from the Hubble Space Telescope has revealed more about its composition and origin.” https://t.co/LcFAX2XFDe
Wow! 😷 “An asteroid called 52768 (1998 OR2) will zoom past Earth next week. Astronomers at the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico are tracking the asteroid, and couldn't help but notice a familiar silhouette after capturing a new radar view of the object.” @cbsnews
Over the years I have spent time reading about @fwhite66 Overview Effect. It has been such an extraordinary contribution to our humanity. Frank has written a 5 part blog on the current status of our world and the impact the Overview Effect has. https://t.co/U0xGiQdjwk
“There are no borders or boundaries, and whatever happens in one part of the planet will eventually have an impact on the rest of the world.” @fwhite66

A special Happy Birthday to #NASA––the agency turns 60 today!
Thank you for advancing exploration and inspiring millions around the world.
NASA and its partnering firms gives humanity a bright future to look forward to and the technology to accomplish wonders in the cosmos.
SpaceX’s next generation vehicle—BFR—will be the most powerful rocket in history, capable of carrying humans to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. https://t.co/gtC39uBC7z
