Hello Twitter ! ☀️
Exactly one year ago, I became a doctor 👩🏽🎓
The defense was 100% online. As a first gen student raised by Cambodian refugees, my only regret is that my "two worlds" never met. Still, this was the most rewarding moment of my PhD !

I recently came across data on who we spend our time with over the course of our lives.
The insights are simultaneously inspiring and depressing.
Here are 6 graphs everyone needs to see:
When you’re doing PhD research, the challenges you encounter are often complex, ambiguous, and can feel unwieldy. That is part of the learning.
A PhD is in part a degree in managing complexity and ambiguity. Your PhD experience should be equipping you to wield the unwieldy.
You don't need everything to be perfect before you write.
The process itself can reveal links you hadn't noticed and bring the clarity you need
Writing fuels more writing.
You just need to start 📝📝📝

Shout out to @ClaRamonLozano who is starting the writing phase of her thesis ! It can feel overwhelming at the beginning, but personally I enjoyed stopping the experiments and seeing the manuscrit take shape little by little, keeping in mind progress over perfection !

Love this idea, even beyond the PhD!
Since January, I've started noting down what I am proud of at the end of every month. This can be as silly as having tried a new recipe. It's a very good way to keep track of progress and wire our brain to see small wins 💥
Make sure to make a list of your accomplishments and what you’ve done throughout your PhD.
Looking at it will help a lot on those tough days.👌

One year after, I am still figuring out what I want to do with my life... but I know it will revolve around sharing what I have learned until now as a scientist, personal development and outreach to underrepresented communities 🌱
Hence this first tweet !
