I’m just a girl standing in front of the Internet asking everyone to stop acting like balsamic vinegar and La croix (or any other condiments) over ice are a replacement for a Coke 🫠
Yes it’s cool to have options and variety in recipe making. But these are often promoted as a way to “have pancakes without guilt” or “healthier pancakes” - and again this over simplifies a single food and the context in which you’re eating it.
Back to the original “skinny” label - STOP using the word “skinny” to mean “healthy”. What decade are we in? And no matter the year, you’d be wrong. That’s not a synonym AND it doesn’t even make sense as a drink title. It plays on society’s obsession w thinness, not health.
A food containing sugar doesn’t make it “unhealthy” - it might have different nutritional make up than another food, but we eat foods with lots of different nutritional values all the time and those different foods, and a lot of other things influence health.
or if you feel pressure for your body to look a certain way because of how you are perceived, you deserve support AND needing that support doesn’t make you any less qualified in your career.
Having a credential doesn’t mean you aren’t a human who struggles or needs help, too.
If you are a dietitian or a nutrition student struggling with your relationship with food and navigating the balance of being seen as someone “with all the answers” or “who eats so perfectly”…
One day you’re embarking on a “health journey” and all the sudden you’re measuring your peanut butter and have accidentally memorized the calories in most foods… the “interested in health” to disordered eating pipeline.
It’s such a drag that you can spend YEARS following all the diet rules, wearing the coolest outfits, doing the 10-step skin care, posting nice pics on social, and you still might not feel good about yourself. Because that’s an inside job…with a lot of outside “solutions”.
@ShirinZaidi Yes! Please! Almost every podcast I listen to it’s always so disappointing especially if the podcast touches on anything around health/body image.
Since #Noom is trending, please remember that their commercials shame you for habits you've developed that are perfectly fine or neutral. Try not to fall for the disordered thoughts they want you to have about your body or behavior.
noom: ✨ “we’re not a diet we just make you relentlessly count calories, group foods into red and green categories, and weigh in every. single. day. it’s science, babe.” ✨
@spalinabean Noom, day 1: We’re not a diet! It’s not about counting calories!
Noon, day 2: Did you know lettuce has fewer calories than bread?*
