@stevemagness For most elite athletes, yes. I can only speak for myself here, and when I am building or in “fight camp” for running, I can’t have any alcohol. If I have one drink, I’ll have 10-12. So I go without any. Same with snacks or candy. 45 and running 4:10 for 1500 for background.
I personally think once every four years, pretending to be really into soccer so you can get absolutely obliterated at the bar with your buddies in the middle of a weekday is one of the most American things you can do.
