Works cited thread to follow.
If there is big biotech announcement happening, #MolecularNodes is being used for it. I only had the realisation in the past day, but it's strange to have my software very quickly become the visual face for $100M announcements and massive scientific breakthroughs.
Every week, I find a new idea to steal from @NikoMcCarty -- I'm about to publishing a video about KaiC's circadian clock reaction based on a great article published in @AsimovPress .
But this is THE best idea to steal. Currently outlining how I could launch this by Q1 2026.
Another YouTube Channel Idea:
"E. coli Design." A whole series where you explain how to design DNA to change the behavior or appearance of E. coli cells. All you'd need is some equipment to transform cells, a microscope and camera, and some basic molecular biology equipment.
Some ideas for modules:
1. The basics of a transcription unit; inserting GFP into cells and watching them glow.
2. Using a base editor to change GFP into another color?
3. Engineering E. coli to spin around in circles.
4. Engineering E. coli to swim faster, or to grow larger, or to partition their DNA unevenly, etc.
... and then end the series with the repressilator and blinking bacteria or something.
You could inspire tens of thousands of future bioengineers and completely demystify this space. Plus it's so cool to directly show how DNA sequences can lead to physical, observable changes in the cell.
@DoubleGum_ I hacked together something like this a few months back (it was terrible) and I’m SO GLAD there’s a more comprehensive version here! Claymation cellular landscapes incoming!
very emotional about this announcement--but also very excited for the @janetiwasa era at the Molecule of the Month. The animation lab is INCREDIBLE. Latest Molecule of the Month an incredible start:

I'm very happy to announce that I have retired! I'm equally happy that @janetiwasa has agreed to continue the Molecule of the Month @buildmodels. Read about this at https://t.co/fs5LBpfL9E
Announced: The PDB Molecule of the Month for December is the flagellar motor! An informative article paired with a beautiful artwork by Dr. David Goodsell. https://t.co/R5VIctaDD0

This is my favorite Molecule of the Month!

All through Autumn, trees race against time to recycle their chlorophyll--and basically everything else in their leaves.
But why go through all this effort?
The answers are honestly mind-blowing:

Have you ever wondered how the body can tell between good and bad bacteria? We all know by now that the healthy human microbiome is capable of doing all sorts of amazing things, from regulating how you think and feel, to training and tuning your immune response. (A🧵)
Hi! My new book, Everything Is Tuberculosis, comes out March 18th. I'm signing 100,000 copies of it. You can preorder your signed copy today at https://t.co/WEtD6dTeAJ or wherever books are sold.

Further vignettes and structures cited to follow. This one goes pretty far just to explain a few small conformational changes.
