I couldn’t agree with this more. AI is valued more when it’s helping you in areas where you don’t have expertise. If you already know something inside and out then the value of AI is limited
I have noticed more excitement about AI tools from technical generalists filling in knowledge gaps vs hyper-specialists that don't feel the tools are good enough to help them much within their zone of expertise.
Imagine it is 2010. Would you have predicted it would be easier to replace taxi drivers or software engineers with AI? I think the clear answer is software engineers. Which is why I believe software engineering jobs are going to be cannibalized by AI in the next 5 years
