@ben_j_todd Absolutely. However for one out of 10 times that it does give you an angle that you hadnt previously considered, i still find it worthwhile.
@literalbanana When I discovered emacs part of me was genuinely really annoyed. Annoyed that this incredible tool that existed for decades and no one had bothered to make me aware of it. Honestly I still am kind of annoyed.
@robertwiblin This is extraordinary. Just amazing that a piece of research so impactful was so deeply flawed and that this then received so little attention.

Factory farmed animals's lives are filled with unnecessary suffering.
@cammakingminds@robertskmiles Virtually the entire population eats meat, nearly all of which is from animals that suffered terribly for most of their lives.
@kittypurrzog I imagine that spending a huge chunk of your life writing a book and then having a person pan it only because they fundamentally misunderstood it, would be an extraordinarily frustrating experience.

@robinhanson By that definition the middle class would be very poorest people. We can expect their children to do better than them due to regression to the mean alone.
