I asked Owl Class (Y3 and Y4) to design fancy gingerbread houses for the Christmas windows of the classiest, most opulent bakeries they could imagine. All my suggested fancy London shops were scorned. @GreggsOfficial, you took the crown with ease. Merry Christmas. 😂
@RumbleCoral They really have. Although theirs are a bit wilder and less plausible as cats!
(There is a little black feral moggy who hangs out on the school fence sometimes, who is now officially named The Minky Pooka. It really suits her.)
@RumbleCoral we are having a lovely time with your brilliant poems in Owl Class. This week we read “A Tale Of Fur And Feathers.” We liked the minky pooka and invented some friends for him! :)
@RobertMuchamore I’ve only got this year and next year left dressing one up for World Book Day, but this year my youngest was a CHERUB agent (navy blue t shirt under the hoodie; outstanding performance on a single mission.) He is a big fan.
@MichaelRosenYes I think “Read quality books” is like saying “Eat healthy food.” We provide kids with choices and guidance; they eventually consume a balance of excellent nutrition, and comfort food, and junk. All fine; the balance changes as we grow, as long as we keep feeding the machine. :)
@emcarrollauthor our entry in the Year 7 “decorate a door” competition for #WorldBookDay is Letters From The Lighthouse. It’s not quite finished yet (we still need to add on the lighthouse - which lights up!) but we thought you might like to see it. Hope you like it.
@piper4missouri I would add that both are fairly resilient and easygoing about where they sit. This isn’t the case for all kids - I’m a teacher, and seating plans are often much more complex than just sitting the troublemakers away from one another. You have to try and meet everyone’s needs.
@piper4missouri I remember my daughter (bombproof law-abider, box ticker, swot) remarking that she always had to sit next to someone “naughty”, and my son (good egg really, but chaotic, one of the guys, can’t stop talking) being all smug because he never did. Ask yourself why, son. 😂
@namspam @RevRichardColes In the summer the sausage rolls/orange squash/party rings get put on a big stone vault outside the church door. And I always hope the bloke in it was a miserable sod who hated kids and picked the plot directly outside the door for its air of sombre respectability.
