@drantbradley I think this is bc districts are making breaks longer, bc when there are partial week breaks, often kids will miss additional days that week, which means schools paid based on daily attendance lose that $$. Instructional year gets expanded to meet required days with more breaks.
@shaungroves@johnpauldickson@jchasedavis and you can probably also extrapolate this to men from 1 Peter 5:5 (mutual humility, lack of ostentation), not loving to walk around in long flowing robes, wanting seats of honor in Luke 20:46
@madefordominion@johnpauldickson@jchasedavis He wrote that in a general letter to the church at Corinth, which had both men and women. Does that mean he's telling women to exhibit non-feminine virtue? That sounds like a dangerous slippery slope to gender confusion!
@drantbradley I helped in an after school music club at an elementary school and a 3rd grader told me she was tired because she had been up till after 2 watching everybody hates chris on youtube
@dieworkwear I remember seeing Danny Kay wear gray socks with gray trousers in White Christmas and it was so unusual to me as a kid I kind of thought it a conceit of the time. I don't think I'd ever see someone do that in real life
@meathead in my experience itโs not as much about gas vs charcoal as it is *cheap* gas vs charcoal. the cheap gas grills I had just had no heat. Basically outdoor ovens. The mileage you get from a $150 charcoal grill vs $150 gas is vast
quality gas grills are a totally different story
@PastorTrey05 I've seen others wonder the same thing about Lazarus which would make the story even more beautiful on so many levels. Why does he live with his sisters? Why doesn't he ever speak?
@drantbradley we have already gone through multiple rounds of this with our 8yo daughter begging to get her own tablet. She even saved up money to buy her own. But...nope and never.
@meathead same thought with various pieces of produce. Jalapeรฑos taste the same no matter where they're grown. okra and cucumbers too (tho okra's so hard to find elsewhere and we eat a lot of it).
But it's impossible to put a real price tag on a fresh tomato still warm from the sun.
@garonnevik Yes! we have instituted the tradition of "winter decorations" after epiphany. take down the nativity etc but leave the tree and lights (inside and out) until things start to grow outside. Why deprive yourself of joy through the two worst months of the year
@1488RawDairy@ChrisMurphyCT Those things are more European than American. the US abandoned much European culture. Monarchy, limited speech, established religion, etc. Which European artifacts do we have to embrace? Arguably the most american art form is the blues, but no one seems worried about that one ๐ค
