1. Check out ALL the police in the background. Prob AFOs among them.
2. This guy is cool, calm and collected. He knows those guys are all mouth and he knows he's not alone.
3. He's there to do his job, not get riled by these muppets.
4. 3 seconds in, the bike goes into gear ;)
Just been working through the wine program. We're adding two Pinots from Santa Rita Hills and a Cab Franc, we're continuing our Burg style Chardonnay and our Santa Ynez Cabernet Sauvignon. Estate red is ongoing as well. Not sure about Malbec; need to find new source of fruit!
Weather app claiming 99F temperatures today (accurate, it's minging) and 32% humidity (laughable, it's like being in a steam room out there, more like 75%). I absolutely did not sign up for Florida weather when I moved here....
I got in trouble last year for suggesting that the best way to navigate in and out of #burningman was a big, powerful dirtbike with knobby tires. It would probably the world's most smug enduro ride if you could pull that of today!
@lospilares11 Yes, and the humidity is very unusual. Often we don't get any rain for at least another six to eight weeks this time of year. Mildew likely a bigger issue than usual in some vineyards.
I drove past this just as it was starting (on opp. side of 101). Photo shows just how dry it is here now after a couple of really warm months... This was all lush, green hills in June.
I get the feeling that the number of mud-caked Subarus rolling around LA is going to go up dramatically after #burningman. Those cars are NEVER going to get washed, are they?
@lospilares11 Humidity levels are much higher, that's certain, but there's a small wildfire almost every two days here at the moment. Recent rain is helping but 2 months of prolonged hot weather isn't helping.
As a side note, someone recently bought the house I used to own, a lovely place that was beautifully remodeled just before I bought it, and has sadly stripped all the character out of it. I suspect it might end up as an Airbnb, so I’m going to see if I can rent it for a weekend!
Horrible news from Lake Arrowhead. Laura Ann Carleton must have opened her store after I left, but I used to get breakfast at the place next door once or twice a week. Those mountains are an odd mix of LA liberals and flag-on-the-pickup-truck Republicans.
I miss the place a little - especially now I know that my neighbor has moved away, eliminating one of my reasons for selling - but those mountains will always be somewhere I remember with mixed emotions because of the right wing conservatives up there.
