🚨 New paper in BMC Emergency Medicine!

Adding a simple 📸 photographic aid to verbal instructions improved bystanders’ ability to identify a safe site for intramuscular TXA in a simulated trauma scenario (88% vs 63%).

🚨 New research out now! 🚨

Our Delphi study sets out 104 expert-backed principles for the care of physically trapped patients after road traffic collisions — from rapid, patient-centred extrication to psychological support.

#TalkAboutRoadDeath - and how we prevent them.

I want to shout about @PostCollision : The Centre for Post Collision Research, Innovation and Translation.

In my #NHS career I was proud to be involved with the rollout of trauma networks which have demonstrably improved road traffic collision (RTC) survival rates and tackled injury severity. One of the areas in need of further research then, and now, is the period in the immediacy of after the crash and data. This is where IMPACT comes in.

Have a look ⬇️ https://t.co/jqdJvkVm0x

Also, they want help from interested folk who are survivors, victims or witnesses of a RTC or just interested in helping shape future research. Have a look at the photo which tells you what the Priority Setting Partnership is and what they want to do. This link provides more information.

🚦IMPACT is proud to launch a global Utstein project on post-collision road injury data, supported by @LaerdalGlobal.

Road trauma kills 1.3M+ yearly—yet we lack a common language for post-crash care.

We’re building a global framework. Join us. 🌍

Busy day working in collaboration with @PostCollision & @shropsfire on a multiagency training package for anyone responding to collisions

Covering the most recent evidence & updated care and extrication

Look out for the training package soon

Huge thanks to @shropsfire!

The road injury chain of survival.

At IMPACT we think this framework is hugely important for all staff involved in post-collision care - right through from dispatch and clinical care, to researchers and policy makers.

As part of our work looking at the crucial role bystanders can have in improving outcomes following a collision, we have created this to show the potential areas they could impact care.

Currently titled the “bystander wheel”….. let us know if you have a more imaginative name!

✨Wellbeing in Pre-Hospital Care✨

The FPHC is conducting a survey to find out more about wellbeing within Pre-Hospital Care.

It takes 10 minutes and we invite clinicians from all pre-hospital backgrounds and settings.

Median time from injury to TCA (tamponade) 11 mins, but there is a window to intervene in this system (on scene 20 mins post injury).
Survival 52% (tamponade) if RT at point of TCA or within 1 minute!… not a treatment for exsanguination in this cohort https://t.co/3dcCA8YCDI
