Not too long ago, I Turned down a deal that would have made me Over #500,000,000 (Five hundred million naira) richer the moment I suspected Foul play.

The client couldn't believe his eyes when I Said NO!

When I remember that God sustained me on a 2k per week salary over 9 years ago, it further increases confidence, resolve and an ability to trust him beyond what my natural eyes can see.

He sent the ravens to feed Elijah, he can do more if you'll trust him.

This is the reason It's very easy for me to walk away from deals, even productive ones that could change my career the moment i get a hunch that something is wrong or you are asking me to cut corners.

I don't do shady deals.

I've received offers from the Disapora to forge papers and help them use insurance for something useful over there but they just needed a document they didn't qualify for.

Others may do so but I don't.

I have learnt by experience that it's not how much I'm earning that makes the difference, it is God's blessings upon my work that counts.

The Blessings of The Lord makes rich with no sorrows added.
Whatever God gives me through my genuine labour is enough for me.

It's called contentment. When you add it with godliness, that is great gain.

Do I think it is easy to be on the path of honesty as you do your job while losing out on deals? NO I don't.

Would you always be happy doing the right things? NO.

But God didn't create man to seek personal happiness but to bring pleasure to the almighty.

We are tools in his hands. He calls the shots, we don't.
God first builds people up before taking them forward.

He allows challenges, hardship and trials to help you toughen up and buid capacity.

If you are ever going through a difficult time, just know that God is preparing you for a great destiny and you cannot come half prepared.

In the meantime, don't sit on your hands waiting for the golden opportunity. Get busy and engaged.

But remember to be honest while doing so. If you cut corners, you've cut short God's channel or flow of resources to you.

For every counterfeit 500m, there's a legitimate one that won't give you sleepless nights or deaden the voice of your conscience.

Keep showing up, keep trusting God.

Your breakthrough is more closer than you can imagine.

Harvard postgrad, done and dusted! Praise God🤲 but here is an important story that can inspire you and someone you know!

In 2009, I graduated from University of Ibadan. We had ‘minor ASUU-FG strikes’, some major challenges because of involvement in unionism, but sailed through. Then came Law School.

That’s when a single policy in Lagos changed everything. Fashola restructured Yaba market, and traders' shops demolished overnight.
The microfinance bank where my mum had saved up Law School fees for 3 years? Gone! Just like that. The bank collapsed because it loaned money to shop owners who had just lost everything to demolition.

One government policy. One demolition. One incompetent finance institution. And just like that, my law school plans were paused. We had to hustle all over again to raise new fees. That's why I believe policies and politics must account for the most vulnerable, otherwise it is not policy, it is police🤣

Before University of Ibadan, I was that kid selling ice cream on the streets of Akoka, running between school hustle and my mum’s small shop. She didn’t have a degree. But she gave me the courage to learn.

After the University of Ibadan, I practiced human rights law, then digital rights law. Later, I moved to tech law. Then tech policy. Now +AI Governance [economics, law, policy].

Japa? Wasn’t even on my mind. In 2015, I got the @WashFellowship, travelled to the @PresPrecinct USA🇺🇸. Still, I returened back to Nigeria and continued to work, to build, to impact - also founded @YIM_Nigeria. Then in 2017, I decided to do a Master’s in Research and Public Policy [not in law] at UNILAG than travelling abroad. I believed in🇳🇬

But UNILAG… showed me pepper. Till today - I can tell you that I and many classmates from 2016, 2017, and 2018 are still yet to see our full results of a 2+year Masters, or our transcripts till date. Even after 7+ years, and after developing and presenting our thesis succesfully!
We petitioned. Followed up. Wrote letters. Nothing happened - from Faculty of Social Sciences to Senate building - all unsure where the results dissapeared to. So weird!

Many dreams were paused. PhD offers lost. Careers stalled. People spent 2 years of time, money, and effort in a Master’s program — with nothing to show 8 years later . Some never recovered.

After all the disappointment, I decided to go global in pursuing knowledge. After @UnilagNigeria saga, I lost too many international offers because I couldn’t produce a transcript for a program I actually completed.

So, I applied again, this time, using only my first degree, which was 15+ years ago. I left the UNILAG Master’s out of the application completely. What’s the point of claiming a program Unilag can’t prove you did?

God did it, I got in. Now - I’m a @HarvardAlumni. And as a fellow Crimsonite, my heart goes to all international students and the challenges you face now!

I’m not sharing this because I’m special. I’m saying: you too can. Even better. Even younger. Especially with mentorship. Your background should never keep your back on the ground.

This post is both a celebration and a question;
Why do public Universities and polytechnics treat students transcripts with impunity after years of hard labor? Why is JAMB still wasting teens’ time in 2025 and cannot apologize intelligibly? Why is WAEC doing same? Why are systems built to frustrate instead of uplift youths and businesses ? Why do we act like fixing education is rocket science, when it isn't? Why must we massage 'ego' before we get what we already earned? Why is it normal for youth to suffer twice — first from poverty, then from a poor system? Why do we mute over police killing a poor citizen and nothing happens? Why? Why? Why?

I made it, but many didn’t. Let’s Pledge not to waste more destinies. PLEASE!

We can confirm that our founder @fisayosoyombo has now been released by @HQNigerianArmy, following the intense media campaign you all mounted.

FIJ acknowledges the Nigerian Army's deliberate mischaracterisation to suggest an involvement in "illegal oil bunkering". FIJ will also address this statement appropriately.

Our immediate concern is regarding the safety of ‘Fisayo Soyombo in view of extensive information sharing with the Army on his fieldwork during the period of his detention. We are assessing the situation and hoping that his safety will not be jeopardised after release.

The Court of Appeal today affirmed the decision of the lower court in th case of @CustomsNG vs Chikaosolu Ojukwu that:

1. Personal items (not for sale, exchange or barter) are exempt from the payment of import duties and other associated levies under the Customs and Excise Act and related Regulations.
2. The definition of “luxury goods” does not include personal items such as mobile telephones, no matter how expensive they are alleged to be and the Nigerian Customs Service is not permitted in law to levy import duties on such items.

#FreeFisayoNow is trending because Nigerians are calling on the Nigerian Army to release investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo whom they arrested on Tuesday.

His arrest is possibly linked to a series of whistleblowing exposing illegal smuggling in the Customs.

Since the IBD Dende investigation, Fisayo has been negatively under the radar of Nigerian authorities.

Early this year in March, he revealed how IBD Dende has power to smuggle illegal dr/ugs, amongst others into the country.

He also posted video evidence. IBD Dende denied. Customs, House of Reps, paid no attention. Instead Fisayo was declared wanted.

On August 14th, he honored police invitation. Where he was detained for 8hrs, before he was released on bail.

He later explained that, his invitation was over 15 petitions against him about a story on the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs Nigeria (OSSAP-SDGs) headed by Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire.

Just this month, he again exposed a syndicate that illegally moved 130,000 bags of rice into country from Bebe, Benin to Sango.

Nigerians customs didn’t react, despite the overwhelming evidences he presented.

Fisayo’s case is one amosgt many cases of alleged press suppression in the country. So, Nigerians are calling on related authorities to release him. As he was arrested there days ago in Port Harcourt by the Nigerian Army of 6th Division in PH.

IELTS is not the first thing you rush to write if you're interested in graduate school in the US

I know there's a PR for IELTS, and that's why some people think that's what you must do if you're interested in scholarships

When you find the school, check their requirements. That's where you find out if they even require any test at all. Most times, it is GRE and TOEFL (for English proficiency). They can accept IELTS in place of TOEFL

You can write schools to waive these tests for you if they'll be a burden or serve as hindrance. Nigeria is also an English speaking country, so we shouldn't be writing English proficiency (many exempt us from it). See how: https://t.co/2AOB62oqtQ
