Very excited to watch the guy who's taken significant and unprecedented US government equity stakes in 20-plus private companies (so far) pretend for the next 4 months that he's the last great bulwark against creeping American communism

Every Trump debacle follows the same 13 steps. The reflecting pool fiasco is just one of the lower stakes versions of it.
1. Devise unnecessary spectacle
2. Disregard expertise
3. Bypass normal procedures
4. Declare victory too early (bonus if done by AI-slop post)
5. Spend way more than estimated
6. Ignore the haters
7. Realize it is not going well
8. Bypass normal procedures once again
9. Allege conspiracy and sabotage
10. Redeclare victory
11. More blaming
12. Losing interest
13. Pretend it never happened, and move on to the next thing
When they worked on the reflection pool during Obama's admin, Obama didn't talk about it 24/7. He was busy running the country. He wasn't a child screaming, "I can fix a pool!!"
And when the algae returned he didn't start arresting everyone for being algae antifa.
Obama was a real president. Not a butt hurt snowflake.
There are SO many perfect ways to sum up the current administration and the people who support it but this Reflecting Pool saga has to be top 5.
It has all the hallmarks -
Seeing a problem where there isn’t one.
Using that fake problem to provide cover for ACTUAL problems.
Massive lack of knowledge/understanding.
Insisting that the solution is easy/simple/cheap.
Turning to lies and spin when their easy/simple/cheap promises fall apart.
Blame others for the problems, making up enemies along the way.
Getting their people to repeat the lies and the spin and to blame the made up enemies for the problems that follow.
We are in a sad place when the people telling these lies and spin really think everyone is as dumb (with a b!) as their most hardcore supporters. Too many lies have been told. The playbook is so obvious at this point. I can only be hopeful that their time as leaders will be short and we all can return to dealing with real issues with real solutions.
Trump’s reflecting pool is the perfect metaphor for his presidency: a vanity project built on favors and shortcuts, handed to people who had no business doing it, hyped endlessly, falls apart almost immediately, cost taxpayers millions, and somehow it’s everyone else’s fault…
What never happened before Trump:
-Every president who lost has conceded except Snowflake Donald.
-No President has ever sold watches, fragrance, phones, and crypto WHILE president.
-No US President has ever made $1.3 billion a year AS president.
-No President has EVER been so unhinged as to add his name to a memorial of another president.
-No President has ever destoryed a third of the white house to build a gold dance hall.
-No President has ever forced taxpayers to pay for his war on algae, then lose the war.
-No President has ever been broken by late night comedians and pop stars.
-No President has ever forced the IRS to give him an official right to never pay taxes.
-No President has ever started a war just to hide his connections with a pedophile.
-No President has ever lost a war that he started just to hide his connections with a pedophile.
@NicholasKral1@liquorontap@stoolpresidente I hope its spam as that guy needs to go out and touch grass. Clearly never had a child play lax that graduated but was still in the tourney. And yes I have the cigar photo after graduation with him.
@jordiebarstool Its hard to convey how stupid these kids were. Anybody who plays a spring sport in MA in the last oh maybe 20 years knows this rule. You don't have to post everything in your life. Everyone has cigars. You don't have to flaunt breaking the rules
@tyxanders Maybe. But lets not pretend they didn't know this could happen. My son graduated in 2016 and everyone knew no posting of cigar photos or you may get bounced. You can hate the rule but EVERYONE knew the rule
