Meet Journey

Journey is around seven years old. He collapsed while pulling a heavily overloaded brick cart after falling into a deep pit.

The impact almost killed him.

Our vets diagnosed a punctured left lung, ruptured chest muscles, traumatic hemopneumothorax, severe subcutaneous emphysema (air trapped beneath the skin), and extreme breathing difficulty.

As our vets treated him, trapped air escaped through the wound in his chest.

Every breath was a fight.

Journey survived... but surviving isn't enough.

His owner already wants him back.

After everything his body has endured, Journey deserves rest, safety, and a life free from suffering—not another overloaded cart.

Sadly, if Journey returns to work, another accident like this is only a matter of time. And if he isn't sent back, another horse or donkey may simply be bought to replace him.

That is the heartbreaking cycle we are trying to end.

This is why I started TAWF's Second Chance for Working Donkeys.

My dream is to replace animal-drawn carts with motor carts, retire these exhausted animals to our sanctuary, and prevent the next Journey before another innocent life is broken.

But this dream cannot become reality without your help.

We are still waiting for support to secure a motor cart for Polar, whose owner is also asking for him back. Now Journey needs the same second chance.

Please don't let this dream fade away before it has the opportunity to save the lives it was created for.

🚨 MAJOR WIN FOR ANIMALS! 🐙🎉

Today, we have some incredible news from Spain.

After years of campaigning, Nueva Pescanova has officially abandoned its plans to build the world’s first commercial octopus factory farm.

This is a monumental victory—not just for octopuses, but for everyone fighting for a more compassionate and sustainable food system.

Octopuses are among the most intelligent and complex animals on Earth. They are solitary, highly curious wild animals that simply do not belong in factory farms. Had this project moved forward, it would have opened the door to an entirely new industry built on the intensive confinement of one of the ocean’s most remarkable species.

This victory didn’t happen by chance.

It is the result of years of tireless work by my incredible colleagues at @CIWF_Global , alongside scientists, NGOs, supporters, and more than 43,000 people who took action by contacting the Port Authority in Spain.

To every single person who signed a letter, sent an email, shared the campaign, or stood with us—thank you. You helped stop a cruel industry before it could begin.

While today is a day to celebrate, our work isn’t finished. Interest in octopus farming still exists in other parts of the world, and we’ll continue fighting to ensure this cruel industry never gains a foothold anywhere.

Today proves something important: when people come together, we can stop cruelty before it starts.

Congratulations to everyone who made this historic victory possible. Today is a great day for octopuses—and a great day for animals everywhere. 💚🐙
