Brunei, Qatar, and Kuwait are examples of Countries that are so wealthy that they provide their citizens nearly full welfare. One could call it universal 'high income' The more productive AI and robotics become, the closer the whole world will get to a situation even better than those 3.
@dissidentwest In that future, recourses are not scarce, they are more abundant than you can imagine. No one will need to die for someone else to have what they need/want.
Socialism is trying to swim upstream against human self-interest and greed. Capitalism is harnessing the greed and self interest of humans to create great service and products. (I am greedy so I will find a need, invent a way to fill it, and organize others so the fulfillment is more efficient and desirable, because the better I do, the more I will profit. -Capitalism)
@_itzsammy That fantasy is impossible because humans are selfish. It requires government control, the level of control necessary is Tyranny, and it will be born corrupt and oppressive, doesn't even have a honeymoon period where it actually works how socialists want it to.
@SirDustyDirks Gamers love products that just work. Steam is the most user friendly, most consistent platform for buying, downloading, and playing games. Gamers relationship with Steam is at the point that a W for Steam feels like a W for us.
Before capitalism, most people lived bent over digging in a field. Most of humanity barely made it through winters and droughts. After 500 years of capitalism, and the innovation it fosters, we are able to argue about it across the world in real time while not stressing about what we will eat when the ground freezes.
Not EVERY job, and not all at once. It will be disruptive, true. There is already a significant group of consumers that are part of the 'welfare class' being on the government dole does not eliminate one from being a consumer of goods and services. If productivity doubles, so does the taxes collected by the government, and the amount of people it can maintain in the welfare class. Not everyone that loses their job will move over to welfare, some will create their own enterprise.
@SMB_Attorney You are not imagining the magnitude of the abundance. We are not talking about 2x production. We are talking about planetary production being 10x in 10 years (possibility, WW3 could prevent that) That's an all boats rising situation.
@spooked75 50k to cure cancer would be cheaper than one dose of some chemo therapies (CAR-T cell therapies are 450k to 600k just for the dose) My ex-wife's multi dose chemo totaled hundreds of thousands, total end bill for her cancer treatment was over a million. 50k would be a saintly.
@PeytonB237726@Laratrumpqc@grok State color does not matter. A cities policy is set by its leaders. So a blue city in a red state still suffers from the poor leadership of its Democrat politicians.
